Hulk Hogan appeared on the Bubba the Love Sponge radio show this afternoon. A variety of topics were discussed in regards to Hogan Knows Best, starting a wrestling promotion, Hogan vs. Russo and more. Perhaps, the most interesting comment made was in regard to Hogan's status in the WWE. Hogan stated he is not involved in WrestleMania 23 and is quoted as saying he apparently no longer works for the company anymore.
Hogan also claimed that he got in trouble following his last appearance on Bubba's show after the Hall of Fame candidates were spilled on the air by Vince McMahon's secretary.
In regards to Hogan's status with the WWE, it must be made clear that Hogan has a tendency to exaggerate or overstate things. Another interesting note, the WWE merchandise website has put Hogan's merchandise on a special clearance sale.
Well, he was rumored to be in part of the Trump/McMahon "feud" for Wrestlemania this year. Whatever the case, McMahon always seems to rehire talent when he deems it necessary. I doubt this is the true end for Hogan, and I'm sure he'll be back at some point.
Although I do find hogan on hogan knows best quite entertaining - I find his role pointless whenhe does wrestle. When Rock made the cameo appearances he always puts somebody over or helps someone get more heat. Hogan just craps on whoever he's in a programme with. I don't mind so much that he went over michaels, but he should have jobbed to orton to further the legend killer gimmick.
bottom line: I don't think this will affect WWE in anyway
There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle it in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That "couldn’t be done," and you’ll do it.
Hogan'll be there, he'll have another useless match that will further no storyline and elevate nobody. When will people stop caring about the guy? I mean i know he's a legend but his time is up! Whats the point of a match that's five minutes long and 4 minutes of that is playing to the crowd after the boot before the leg drop and then 40 minutes of him posing in the ring?
THe fact is that right nostalgia is selling. And when you think about wrestling especiall WWE, it doesn't get bigger than Hogan. The guy has carried the company longer than anyone else ever has been able to in the modern day. So I think they will find a way to bring him in...
