JR's contract & comment
Jim Ross’ contract is up at the end of the month. I've heard neither side is interested in signing a new contract but that this doesn’t mean Ross is leaving, only that he’ll be working on a week-to-week basis until they decide to humiliate and attempt to replace him again.
He's gone fully into his "JR’s Barbecue" project for when the day comes that WWE finishes up with him for good.
Vince McMahon seems to have always had the desire to replace him for the same reasons he always has (Ross is “too old”, “doesn’t have the right look”, is “too Southern”, etc.), but also realizes that there isn’t anyone out there who can replace him right now.
Speaking of JR, on his jrsbarbq.com site, he doesn’t give a rat’s ass about getting in trouble. During his Raw report he said he was begging to see Women’s Title tourney brackets; that he detested “when matches end abruptly and without a clear cut winner or loser.”
Regarding the Tag Titles, he said: “Did you know that the Spirit Squad are the World Tag Team Champions?
“I still don’t know who won or lost the Gauntlet Match that DX competed in on RAW.”
“The big Monday night RAW Homecoming on October 9 will be a three hour affair, sounds like an old Lawler relationship”.
Regarding Chris Masters: “Masters may be too one dimensional offensively as it relates to his ‘Masterlock’ and the use thereof. Masters might benefit from being in a tag team with a veteran wrestler and I am not referring to Orton.”
The site has no affiliation with WWE, obviously.
Ross on Angle: “This matter is really getting a great deal of feedback and may be borderline over analysed. Kurt needed time off to deal issues he has thoroughly discussed on his own website. As I understand it the WWE and Kurt mutually agreed to release Kurt so he could heal physically and mentally and then pursue other options including coming back to the WWE if he was healthy and chose to. No one betrayed anyone here. Kurt needed to step away from the WWE and heal. It was that simple. For anyone to say Kurt was ‘held back’ is a little far fetched to me. Kurt made a ton of money in the WWE and earned a worldwide reputation. What else was he supposed to do while in the WWE? This business is about making cash, plain and simple. Kurt made big money and got famous in the WWE. He deserved all his accolades and the rewards that went with them. TNA is not going to become an overnight sensation with or without Kurt Angle. One man does not a company make. I perceive and am told that there are conflicts of interest issues in TNA but that’s hearsay because I am not there. I hope everyone in TNA are all successful and finally reach profitability.”
Ross on Russo: “I wish him the best. I have no ax to grind with Russo. We have not always agreed philosophically but that doesn’t necessarily make either of us wrong. Russo has had some excellent concepts in the past. Perhaps he can re-generate those types of ideas in TNA. Time will tell. The question is can Russo comfortably write reality based story lines and stay creatively stimulated. I think the trend is going back to in ring drama and physicality but that may just be my wishful thinking”.
Great find Bulldog, this is reason enough for WWE to keep JR. I still think JR is the best announcer in wrestling right now and I like how he gives what appears to be his honest opinions, even if they conflict with a storyline (like the tag team title line since the titles are rarely ever defended).
Visit and shop for video games at my Amazon-based store, also get discounted HD DVDs while they last.
I'd love to see a real shoot with JR after he's done with WWE, for good. The things he's seen and what he knows about the inner workings of "Sports Entertainment" could fill an encyclopedia.
I think JR would really love to work a Ring of Honor show. I think maybe they will ask him to call one show and then hopefully ROH would get him to add to their Straight Shooting series.
I would love to hear him call a ROH show.
March 28th: Ring of Honor in Orlando, FL, March 29th: WWE Hall of Fame in Orlando, FL, March 30th: WWE Wrestlemania XXIV in Orlando, FL
April 13th: TNA Lockdown from Lowell, MA
if he left the wwe it would just be time before tna went out and got him... to me he is the best there ever was in field of work and when he leaved raw it will not be the same...i think he would be great to see him call a tna show and he what he has to say about the x-division

Having said all that, and appreciating he is the best around, he does have his faults. I used to lose count of the times he'd get Jeff & Matt Hardy the wrong way around, his incorrect calling for many moons of a sideslam (calling it a sidewalk slam!), getting his Benoits and Jericho's the wrong way around as well. His worst commentary (which thankfully didn't ruin the moment) was his screeching, voice losing commentary of Benoit's title win at Mania a few years back. He was truly awful in that match.
I think the key point though is that WWE have never had anyone there that is a patch on him, thus making him seem even better than he actually is. I mean, when he's not been there they've replaced him with Coach and Cole. Therefore, he's bound to seem bloody awesome!! I quite like Tenay as well, and Styles is good if he is allowed to call a match in a non-WWE style.
