Rumors: Hogan's WM 23 Opponent And Location Of WM24

Considering that the Hulk Hogan vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin dream match is not likely to occur at next year's WrestleMania, Hogan has pitched an idea for wrestling another big star at WrestleMania 23. Seeing how it will be the 20 year anniversary of his match with Andre The Giant, Hogan is interested in wrestling The Big Show at next year's WrestleMania. The Big Show is good friends with Hogan and thus he'd probably be up for it. Although, it remains to be seen if WWE creative will go through with Hogan's idea. If it does get passed, it should be interesting to see if Hogan appears on ECW programming.
The current frontrunner to host Wrestlemania 24 in 2008 is the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Next best thing, given that pretty much all Hogan matches suck anyway, is to give the casual "aged" WWE fan what they want and boost up that buy rate. Since it's in Detroit again (same as WM3) and Big Show is the next best thing to Andre(!) give the old fans what they want and will spend bucks for. Give them Hogan-Andre II, 20 years after the 1st.
From my 17th August post on the "Which matches would you book at WM23" thread :1grin:
On a sidenote, Vegas in 2008? I'd be there. My brother has been trying to get me to go with him to Vegas for years
I may be alone in saying this, but am I the only one that doesn't see the allure of this match up?? I think it may have been one thing if they had kept up the "son of Andre" thing for the Big Show...but really? What kind of buildup is there other than the fact that Hogan slammed one huge fat man in the same city all those years ago??
And is a program with Hogan going to elevate Big Show at all?? I don't think so at this point. He's already been booked as this huge monster now in ECW. So this leaves me thinking...who else would make an effective match up if they're not looking to elevate younger talent in a program with Hogan??
I'd go with the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair...leading to the retirement of one or both of these legends.
Show and Hogan have a history, both in the ring and out.
As mentioned above, they are good friends, and they have been throught WcW and the WWE together, along the same ppl.
They could use different aspects from the past to build the story. Things like the birth of nWo and Giant came out and attacked the WcW wrestlers thereby siding with Hogan Hall and Nash and nWo. They've had matches in the past, I'm pretty sure they've tagged at least once, and they could even use the fact when Hogan left nWo after beating the Rock just a few years ago, Show was basically his replacement.
This isn't Austin vs Hogan hype, but it could be good if played right.

If Hogan is coming back at Mania, and face it Vince is seeing dollar signs that will materialise for their biggest show of the year, and he wants to have Hogan slam a big fat guy again, then why not?
There are the occasional viewers (not most of the internet community) who will probably be psyched to pay for this (strangely). Let them. WWE then must use that opportunity to thrill them with the rest of the show and make them stay. It's good business sense.
The match will suck, but it's likely one match out of 11, and it'll suck no less than Boogeyman did last year. The crowd will go ballistic for it, and if Hogan has to beat a guy on the roster at Mania, I'd rather it was Show (a big fat waste of talent) than somebody who actually has a career still ahead of them
I hate to admit it, but I wouldn't mind seeing Big Show vs. Hulk Hogan at WM23. The match at WMIII was more then just Hogan slamming a fat guy. That monent is WWE. That moment IMO is what brought WWE into the mainstream. It was getting there, but this put them over the top.
So where does this all fit in? Well, it's just nostalgia really. Only thing, could Hogan actually pick up Show at his age?
As for Las Vegas, it's a good idea. You know how many people will probably plan a vacation around the event? It'd be insane. Not like Vegas really needs more money though lol.
I think the place is something like 30 floors, but I'm not sure how big the area would be that the event would take place. It can proably hold at least 20,000.
