Triple H speaks on backstage power, Hulk Hogan, Warrior, and internet

Quote:
Triple H was interviewed in the October 2006 issue of WWE Magazine where he criticizes the internet once again, Hulk Hogan, and more. He commented on losing to the Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania 12, the new DX, and more. Below are some of the interesting quotes of the piece:

Q: Once and for all, say something to the wrestling websites that claim you're nothing but a power-mad, backstage dictator.

Triple H - I haven't read a dirt sheet in 10 years. And that's the damn truth. Yes I'm in a top position. Yes I'm married to the boss's daughter. Yes I sit in production meetings. But, at the end of the day, there is only one person with the stroke in this business. And that's Vince McMahon. If he doesn't like something , whether it's my idea or not, it's not going to happen. I want guys like John Cena around. I want to bring new guys up and help make them. People always accuse me of not wanting to drop the belt to a guy. That's complete crap. I didn't drop the belt to RVD because no one asked me to drop it to RVD. I've yet to see Hulk Hogan lose to anybody. He wrestles once every 6 months, and it doesn't matter if you're the biggest name in active competition today, he's not going to lose to you. There was suppose to be a Hogan/Michaels 2, and Hogan was supposed to lose. All of a sudden his knee starting "bugging" him.

Q: Since you were poised for a big break, does your embarrassing loss to the Ultimate Warrior at Wrestlemania 12 in 1996 still haunt you to this day?

Triple H - Do people really think I thought I was going to beat the Ultimate Warrior? The fact of the matter is that he was a completely unprofessional dipsh*t. (Shawn Michaels Interjects: Don't talk about me like that!) That's what pisses me off about the match, not the fact that I lost.

Triple H made one more reference to the internet: "One more thing for the internet haters.... It all stems from people who have opinions about the business they've never been involved in. And they're the same people waiting outside for my autograph after the show."
The only problem I had with the interview is that it wasn't long enough. Everything he said was complete truth, HHH is the last guy anyone should blame when it comes to the WWE product. He's done everything that's ever been asked of him, he's been a stand up guy, and he puts his ass on the line in every match I've ever seen him work. You'll never hear HHH say his knees are "bugging" him unless they actually are.

100% correct on smarks too

So people should "stop having opinions about a business they have never been involved in"? What a complete nob jockey Hunter is. He's in the entertainment industry and if he doesn't want people to have an interest or show an opinion about the industry he's in then he should get the fuck out of it. Of course people are going to have opinions, just because someone doesn't know how to take a stone cold stunner like he does doesn't mean they don't have a perfectly valid point on the industry. Sometime the best viewpoints come from those that aren't so immersed in an industry that they can't see what is good or bad any longer.

The only time I saw excessive amounts of hate for Hunter on the internet and in "dirt sheets" was in the 2002 period when it was fully deserved. The guy was jacked up like an idiot, couldn't perform to the level he had and thus became paranoid and insecure in everything he did, a problem his fragile confidence has clearly never quite recovered from.

Wrestlers often feel they are over derided on the internet, for example a recent interview with HBK in which he said he's sure a lot of people on the internet hate him. Fucking hell, switch on your computer HBK, you're up there with Angle as one of the people that is usually considered a god-like performer by anyone on here. Don't be ignorant and listen to your fellow jocks backstage and just belittle anyone that hasn't been in a ring.

Just read this on another forum. ir eally liked it. i may just pick up a copy of the magazine. I think Haitch deserved the hate in 2003 when he dominated the scene with mediocre matches and stories. But he seems to have taken a back seat from the title race and whilst he still takes up a fair bit of air time, hes allowing others to shine (in Edge and Cena) and has been improving increasingly from WM 20 onwards, that he is just a complete package (like HHH circa 2000). I'd have to sya i agree with most of what he has said there, especially the Hogan comment.

I agree with everything HHH said. People will go to shows and hate on Cena, chant "you can't wrestle" and then cheer Sandman who is a complete piece of shit in the ring. Then these same people will run to cena at the airport to get an autograph and act like they are his biggest fan.

Smarks don't know what they are talking about most of the time but they act like they do through internet reports. They always think they have some "inside news" when they really don't know anything WWE doesn't want them to know. Everyone though for sure Cena was winning the title at SummerSlam, "mark it down, it's going to happen" is what the "reports" were saying and again they were wrong. Everyone thought WWE was getting rid of Mark Henry. Wrong. I could give 1000's of examples..

These people chant "you can't wrestle" to Cena because they are told to by other morons. Do they even know if someone is a capable wrestler or not? I bet most have no idea what goes into being a great wrestler. It's a hell of a lot more then just doing a monkey flip off a balcony, but yet they think Sonjay Dutt and the like are incredible..

That's all for now.

All I'm saying is that most internet fans really don't know what they are talking about.

I've searched plenty of forums and seen it with my own eyes. It's all a big follow the leader game. Someone will say Cena sucks, and 100's will follow..

Then people think they have to agree with Meltzer because he's been around the business for a 100 years, and if you disagree with Meltzer it's like "How could you do that!?!?!"

Meltzer is the one who craps on everything WWE does and doesnt give it a chance, right?

I dont know how he can be so closed-minded and yet so respected by some fans.

The blind loyalness to Meltzer extends to Wikipedia as well. When I tried to bring up the bias he shows against WWE(like not giving them any 5 star matches since 1997 for example) they act like he is the definitive source for what is good and what is bad in wrestling.

I really do like the new WWE magazine. Its a good read and it is a lot better then the old magazines where they just did wrestler profiles and review stuff that happened 2 months ago.
