As announced on Friday Night SmackDown last night, the King of the Ring tournament is being brought back exclusive to the SmackDown brand. The first round bracketing of the tournament will be as follows:

- Kurt Angle vs. Randy Orton.

- Matt Hardy vs. Booker T.

- Chris Benoit vs. Fit Finlay.

- Mark Henry vs. Bobby Lashley.

I'm in the thinking that this is Lashley's tourney to win. Usually the KOTR in past years was used as a way to elevate talent and he's the guy that comes to mind. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised to see him turn heel in this tourney either. I'd like to see him get a mouthpiece also (maybe Heyman) and add to his character development but winning this tourney would be a good first step to reaching new heights.

The 1st round matches for the most part look really good. This might actually get me to tune into SD! this week or at least tape it.

I do think that this would be better as a joint PPV but I digress.

I suppose before I can even guess who would win I'd need to know what's going to happen with Orton. He would probably be the favourite unless he really is being taken off TV, since he's not had a World Title run for a while and needs to have some form of success if they want him to be a regular main eventer.

Benoit and Finlay should be awesome. Please give them 20 minutes at least.

Are all the matches to be on TV then or will the final be on PPV?

Hence why it needed more people. You could put MNM in single matches, and thenc onversely include Masters, Carlito and so on.

I wanted KoTR back like many of the rest of the posters on here, but not necessarily in this form. Maybe it'll still be great, but it just feels like it's being thrown out there with no build.
