PWInsider reports that MTV has ordered a pilot of a new professional wrestling promotion to be operated in conjunction with Big Vision Entertainment.
The new MTV Wrestling Promotion will be called New Age Wrestling, or NAW, to fit in with their new idea of mixing music with wrestling. NAW will tape their first show on February 9th in Los Angeles. Their wrestlers also include Vampiro, New Jack, Sean Waltman, PJ Polaco (formerly Justin Credible), Jack Evans, Teddy Hart, and Matt Sydal.
NAW has sent out a request on Craigslist looking for "a hip and trendy “MTV style” commentator that can grab hold of the action." The ideal announcer would be young, have professional wrestling knowledge and be "very attractive."
The product will be very MTVesque, combining music and reality show elements with in-ring wrestling.
I also have heard rumors of them wanting Chris Jericho, but Jericho wasent interested.
I thionk this could be huge. MTV has a ton of money, and is already big. People will prolly watch who dont even like wrestling and hopefully will get into wrestling.
Even if it became popular MTV would never hold onto it for more than a couple years because by then all the teenies who watched it would've grown up and moved on.
However, maybe this will help a few guys move up to TNA and WWE.
MTV sucks and if it's going to be MTVesqu then I know it will suck. I will watch the first episode when it airs, but my expectations are very low for this.

Didn't they try a live music/wrestling idea when WWE first signed its Viacom deal and had Heat on MTV? It sucked then and sounds like a bad idea for them to try it again. Honestly, I'm surprised MTV's even interested in doing something like this - it's not like wrestling's main stream right now.
