New WWE Drug testing policy

WWE.com just updated their drug testing story:

In a joint meeting today with the Raw and SmackDown rosters in the United Kingdom, in Sheffield, Vince McMahon announced that within the next several weeks, a new drug testing policy will be implemented in which performance enhancing drugs, such as steroids, etc., recreational drugs, as well as abuse of prescription drugs will be banned.

In addition to the new drug testing procedure, there will also be an emphasis on cardio vascular examinations.

The specifics of the drug policy will be announced over the next several weeks. More details to follow. Check with wwe.com for the latest information.

Hmmm, I wonder if this had anything to do with what happened to Eugene. I support this new policy, especially the part about steroids. I just hope that WWE actually enforces this policy though because a policy doesn't mean anything unless it is enforced.

I think this is for the best, as it might cut down on unnecessary deaths. People can still look great without roids.

Thanks for the memories Eddie!

It's about time that the WWE did this!

With the recreational drugs part, we may have to wait even longer to see Rob Van Dam return.

That, and I bet the cardio exams have to do with Eddie

I'm glad that WWE is for once being pro-active about this cause and is willing to learn from its mistakes of the past. I fully support the new testing and hopes WWE sticks with this longer than they did the last time they implemented a drug policy (1992-96 when Vince was on trial).

It's a good policy and a good PR move. But I think it was in Mick Foleys second book that he simply explained anyone who wants to take these drugs is smart enough to know how to avoid getting caught.

I had a sig, once.

At the very least though it might stop the casual person who is just thinking about using any of these drugs but doesn't want to risk getting caught. You're right in that if someone really wants to avoid getting caught they will be able to cheat the tests, that has been proven in other sports leagues.
