According to John Laurinaitis, Vice President of Talent Relations for World Wrestling Entertainment, Mark Copani, a.k.a. Muhammad Hassan, and WWE have decided to go their separate ways.

Copani, who was last seen at The Great American Bash in late-July, had nothing but positive remarks about his WWE experience in recent phone interview.

“I have a great appreciation for WWE and the way they treated me,� said Copani. “Everybody took care of me even more than they ever had to. I have a great deal of gratitude for the McMahons, the people in the office and the boys in the locker room. I have absolutely no grievances in the way that everything played out. In fact, the split was very amicable. I just thought that it was in my best interest, as well as WWE’s best interest, for us to go our separate ways.�

With WWE now in his past, Copani is heading to Hollywood to pursue a career in acting. But does that mean WWE fans will never see the former Muhammad Hassan in a wrestling ring again?

“Wrestling is in my back pocket for now,� admitted Copani. “Luckily, the door was left open for a return if that is what I wish to do in the future. And if that’s something I wish to do, I know who to call.�

It sounds like they mutually decided to have him leave, he didn't seem happy about his character being scrapped since he didn't report to OVW.
I am pissed though, why didn't they just have him traded to Raw? I'm sure Spike TV/USA Network would be more leniant about the character than those idiots at UPN, Hassan looked like he was being pushed into main event status. I still can't believe that UPN told them to get rid of his chacter just because of the terroritst attacks in London.

He wants to get into acting?! What a waste. He should legally change his name to Mohummad Hassan and be forced, yes forced!, to wrestle as that character on WWE TV every week.

I had a feeling this was coming once it was reported that Mark Copani didn't report to OVW. Still sucks though and I don't blame him for not reporting since HE did nothing but as he was told, and it cost him his job.

If he was against the idea, perhaps he can file a lawsuit against WWE for costing him his job.

I thought Hassan was going to appear on RAW once WWE left Spike, but now that's out of the question.

While I'm not surprised, I'm still very pissed off. What a waste of a great young talent. I hope everyone can learn somethin from this. And I guess the WWE geniuses couldn't come up with anything for him huh? Yeah, that sounds about right. Fucking idiots.

I kind of expected this to happen. I don't think that this guy would have been very good as a repackaged character. Everyone would have still thought of him as Hassan. I also think that if the Hassan character had been brought back there would have been more complaints and the U.S.A. network would have eventually given in and banned the character as well. I just think that the whole angle severely hurt this guy's future in any career. Very slim chance that he can make it in movies so I expect to see him in a WWE ring again.

I think WWE might re-hire him in a few months once things have cooled off, maybe if they don't have him be as extreme as he was at the end USA Network might not have such a problem.

Once again, don't blame UPN, they did what they thought they had to do becuase of the fact that the WWE geniuses crossed a questionable line. Blame the stupid wrestling organization.

Get yourself an old wrestling tape. Watch Flair in his prime, Terry Funk, The Road Warriors, Dusty Rhodes, Ricky Steamboat, Barry Windham, The Andersons, Pat Patterson, The Briscoes, and I dare you,... I dare you to try to tell me that WWE is even a remotely good product. Wrestling happened before 1998 and just because you didn't see it does not mean it did not exist. Broaden your horizons people!!!
