WWE's decision to focus their promotional efforts for SummerSlam on the "Legend vs. Icon" match between Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels rather than on the WWE or World Titles has proved to be a good one. The company has released early estimates for the SummerSlam pay-per-view buyrate, and it checks in at an estimated 525,000 buys. That makes it the most successful SummerSlam PPV in several years, and blows away every other show the company has produced since WrestleMania.
In comparison, the SmackDown! brand's Great American Bash PPV in July did an estimated 225,000 buys, while the Raw brand's Vengeance show in July did around 325,000 buys. The only events in the last year to beat SummerSlam are WWE's two other "big" co-branded shows, the Royal Rumble (with an estimated 575,000 buys) and WrestleMania 21 (with an estimated 975,000 buys).
There have been rumors that WWE would consider booking another Hogan vs. Michaels PPV match based on the success of SummerSlam, and this 525,000 buys is unquestionably successful. However, it appears that Hogan's focus now is to get Stone Cold Steve Austin into the ring, potentially at WrestleMania 22 next year in Chicago.
Not a bad buy then. I honestly hope we don't see HBK vs Hogan II because the way HBK turned face again at the end of the match was poo.
Hogan vs Stone Cold would bring the dollars in and i can see a confrontation coming this week on raw.

Hogan vs. Austin while it would be a spectacle would be a truly aweful match, possibly worse than Hogan vs. Cena. They either need to make it a tag match throwing HBK or Angle into the mix or some sort of elimination match cause Austin is mostly a brawler and lacks the workrate that a Rock, Angle, or Michaels has that can atleast make Hogan look slightly less horrid in their.
I'd like to see how Hogan takes a stunner. Probably awful.
