-- WWE have asked Matt Hardy (who's no-compete clause ends on July 11th) to hold off from signing a contract with TNA for several weeks. This is because Vince McMahon knows that a Edge/Lita/Hardy feud would be big business so therefore WWE are seriously considering bringing Hardy back.
-- PWInsider also mention that WWE sent TNA a fax on Tuesday which, although not confirmed, they believe to be addressing Matt Hardy's WWE status.
As we noted several days ago, Matt hardy was contacted by WWE several days before the RAW wedding angle. They asked him if he would wait it out several weeks before signing with TNA as they were interested in trying to work out an angle for a return. Sources indicate that fan reactions over the past several months have indicated to Vince McMahon that Hardy has the [potential to be something else and sell merchandise. The issue is that there are obviously emotional problems between the two.
This places Hardy in a really good position as he's become a very talked about hot commodity who has his pick of the litter in the near future, even if WWE doesn't make him an offer to return. Hardy is at the point he can pretty much write his own ticket on the independents (where some promoters have claimed he is asking for $2,500-$3000 a shot), TNA, or even possibly Japan. If course, as it stands, there is also a distinct possibility he can head back into World Wrestling Entertainment (if they make him an offer) with an angle that fans are literally asking for weekly. In many ways, Hardy's current situation could be compared somewhat to Bret Hart's red hot momentum after the Montreal incident in November 1997, although WCW completely dropped the ball on that once Hart debuted for them. Hardy's current WWE no-compete expires on 7/11 and a TNA deal is ready to go. TNA has also been holding off Jeff Hardy's return so the two can reunite the Hardy Boyz.
I am on the fence as to whether or not Matt Hardy should go to WWE.
Sure he can make good money in the indies right now. But wrestling fans have shor memories on this stuff and eventually rhe momentum from the whole Matt/Edge/Lita incident will fizzle. WWE's current push of Lita and Edge in my opinion are the main reason people have kept so venement about it.
Also TNA is off the air right now and they keep claiming that a TV deal is coming. But nothing is ever announced and frankly there isn't a wrestling federation in America that isn't constantly telling their fans a TV deal is coming. From the local indy no one outside of you're home town has heard of to the aspiring number 2. Everyone is always on the verge of a "TV deal" if you let them tell you the story. Frankly TNA is looking more and more like they are on their last limb every week they say a TV announcement is coming in the following week, and then don't announce anything.
Now if TNA were still on TV I would say Matt Hardy should absolutley join them. Less moeny or not in TNA he is a big fish in a small pond with a ton of momentum. And the fact is that WWE will almost surley push him initially in a feud with Edge and then bury him once that runs out. WWE didn't want him before, that is why he is fired. Fans may bully them into giving him another chance, but WWE is notorious for holding a grudge and once the Edge/Hardy feud is over I have no doubt he will quicly return to midcard hell. Possibly forever.
The thing is with TNA looking to be almost done it is hard to say he shouldn't go to WWE, likley with a raise, over toiling in the indy's until people forget about him. And who knows play it smart and get a long contract and maybe WWE will eventually forgive him and give him another chance to catch on before it runs out.
In truth I don't think Matt Hardy is in as good of a position in the long term as people think. But considering his options, I don't see how a return to WWE isn't the lesser of two evils. Incedently I am a huge Matt Hardy fan but all of this is still his own fault. Had he not made this public he probably never would have been fired in the first place.
Frankly I am annoyed his whining for months over being dumped like it has never happened to anyone else ever before is being rewarded at all. Especially since he was calling it a travesty that devestated him when they initially did the Lita/Edge angle, and now he is apparently considering coming back and doing an angle about it himself.
Once again WWE is the greatest evil in the business to an ex-employee until you are the one getting the money thrown at you. I can't hate him for it, he is hardly the first person guilty of such an offence. But as a fan who admired him I am a bit dissapointed in the end he was no better then anyone else.
Just hope he plays nice this time if he does come back. Beacause he isn't going to get dumped by a girl hardcore fans have been wanting a reason to hate for years every time his career hits a low point.

Bottom line is, if he goes to the indies, he isn't exaclty going to be very mainstream and he will fade away other than what people read on the internet. TNA is not even on TV right now so he won't get much exposer that way either. To mention him being held back as a reason for not re-signing is pretty silly if yo uask me. He certianly isn't going to get a huge push from the indies INCLUDING TNA. he will just be some guy you hear about appearing here and there and not see any of his matches, not see him do anything storyline wise and he will be come nothing more than an article to read.

I agree with this except that I think that after he toils in midcard hell for a few months or maybe even a year, he'll just be fired again, probably the next time they have a lottery trade. I'd still like to see him back. He has a lot to weigh out. Does he go for a company that can't even get back on tv but will treat him relatively well (booking wise, I'm not talking salary or things like that..) or does he go w/ the big guys who will treat him like crap and likely fire him again w/in the next few years. I'd go w/ WWE. He can always find another indy place or TNA if it's still around when WWE lets him go again.
Yes, I also agree with DanKnight and he has mimmicked a lot of my points form the past in that I think Matt was also partly to blame as the end result of his firing which I have been saying all along.
I do disagree however, in saying that if TNA were to get a tv deal that Matt should join them. He is just as likely to get buried there as anywhere else because when it comes done to it, going to TNA itself is getting buried. You get way less exposure, they have their own back stage politics fued going on right now, like JV always says, when it comes down to it, they are nothing but a glorified Indy. I think it is in Matts best interest to go to the WWE no matter what his options are right now.
