05/28/2005 - In an interview with WESH.com, both Steve Austin and Kevin Nash made some questionable remarks.
Although Austin put over the possibility of working with Hulk Hogan, he attacked the star power of anyone currently on the roster. "When I look at the roster right now, there's really no one that I think would make for a big pay-per-view match," Austin said. "I've heard Hulk Hogan throw my name around and I think he'd like a match with me. I think that could be quite interesting -- a spectacle -- and draw some big money."
Kevin Nash, who feels his movie experience can be a great help to TNA, referred to working for the company as "screwing around."
"But as far as wrestling, I can do it here and there, but week in and week out ... I don't want to tear something or hurt something and then two days later have somebody tell me, 'Hey, you know they want to put you in the next Bond film?' It's like, 'Wow, I'm sorry. I just broke my ankle last night in Orlando screwing around.'"

Cause yeah, that so would happen.
I don't think those remarks are particularly inflammatory, its just the text around them trying to make them seem so. Like where the author says Austin "attacked" and Nash's "screwing around"...he's trying to sensationalize, methinks.

I suppose you could take it like that. To me he's just stating the obvious though...the buyrates haven't exactly been through the roof lately, have they? I think a big problem is oversaturation, too many PPVs...but that would take this way offtopic heh.
I think this is an even further indictment of the writing/booking staff. The fact that you can't build up enough wrestlers to make one killer match? Not good.

Austin has more room to make comments, even though I think that he shouldn't have been so blunt, but Nash's booking skills were crap in WCW and I doubt they've improved much here.
This all seems like a way to draw more attention to their careers while putting people down.
Shame, Shame fellas.

Another way to look at Austin's comment was perhaps the interviewer asked if there was anyone on the roster that would make for a big match with him, and not just in general. He's right in that aspect, he's faced all the big names already and delivered stunners to pretty much everyone else on the roster.

Austin has to remember that nobody though he would even get close to main event status untill he got the Stone Cold gimmick. As for Nash not wanting to get injured, didn't he once injure his ankle just walking across the ring? That guy is accident prone.

For Austin, man you used to be so cool and you always said you would never become like a Hogan, old, bitter, holding down others (which he did) and ragging on the talents of others (which you have). Sad to hear it.
As for Nash. Jesus, you tore your quad just striding across the ring, better just lie very still in bed and don't move at all if you wanna get that "Bond" role without injuring yourself.

Austin`s kinda right tho... who in WWE right now could have that big draw one time only PPV match. There is only Hulk and god knows pure wrestling fans dont want to see that (nostalgia aside you could watch the match in your head right now <test of strength punches irish whip lou thez press mounted punches Hulk-up body slam missed leg drop stunner good night>) it would leave you thinking meh! it wasnt that good. So that leaves Cena - not ready Batista - cant do 20 mins Trips - done to death Angle - ditto Taker - ditto. There is no-one there for him because he`s already main-evented with the best and the new-comers arent ready. It doesnt mean the roster is bad it`s just a simple fact.
