At a launch event for the Celebrity Wrestling TV Show, Roddy Piper claimed that he recently signed a five-year deal with World Wrestling Entertainment.

At this point, no confirmation is available about a potential deal with Piper, and it's not as if wrestlers have not made erroneous claims about possessing contracts in the past. However, Piper is definitely on the record making the claim.

He also stated that he will be filming a movie in China and doing a show in Las Vegas, so an on-air WWE return is not at all imminent.

Yeah, I saw that last night. I presumed he was talking rubbish but, if that's true, it's just crazy. What's he gonna be, a road agent?? He is a legend but his time (along with his real hip!!) has gone. I just don't want to see him on TV anymore (apart from one off special occasion appearances and surely he wouldn't need a 5 year contract for that!!).

I just hope this is less true than the Ric Flair fake boobs story.

You would have thought that WWE would have learned from 2003 when they brought Piper in and it didn't work out...

They could put him back on commentary, he was pretty good on it in the early 90's. Or Pipers Pit?
