At Wrestlemania 22 Rey Mysterio fufilled his lifelong dream and won the World Heavyweight Championship for the first time. Ever since then he has been called a charity case, a cheap champion, etc. Now he will get his chance to show the world that he deserves to be world champion when he goes up against the current United States Champion and former WWE Champion John Bradshaw Layfield. On the April 21st edition of Smackdown JBL made the challange that he would face the winner of Angle vs. Mysterio. The next week on Smackdown Mysterio retained his World title by disqualification after Mark Henry interferred, making the match for Judgment Day. Rey Mysterio vs. JBL for the World Heavyweight Championship will now take place. History has told us that JBL hasn't had a good history at the annual Judgment Day. Two years straight he has challanged for the World Title and two years straight he has failed to walk away with the gold. Will 2006 be different for him? Can he walk out as a double champion? Or will Mysterio prove to us all that he is a true champion and deserves that belt? This highly anticipated match will be one to watch!

The tournament which has been made famous for making stars has returned to Smackdown. The King Of The Ring is known for elevating wrestlers careers such as Steve Austin, Triple H, and Brock Lesnar. This year we see two men who have the chance to join a group of elite superstars which include Steve Austin, Bret Hart, and Triple H. Those two wrestlers are Booker T and Bobby Lashley. This occured when he defeted Matt Hardy on Smackdown, and then advanced due to an injury Kurt Angle got from Mark Henry. In the last match to determine who goes into the finals at Judgment Day, Bobby Lashley defeted Finley on the 12th May edition of Smackdown. Booker T, who has been extremely cocky since being named in the tournament has guarenteed that he walk out of Phoenix as the 2006 King Of The Ring, but will his arrogance come back and haunt him? He stated that he wasn't worried about either Chris Benoit or Finlay, but failed to meantion Lashley. But this isn't the only incident which has occured involving the two. At the start of the Tournament when Booker T came out bragging about him winning the King of the Ring, Lashley also came out spearing the former five time WCW World Champion. Now the two finally get to fight it out and see who the better man is. Whether it be Booker T, or Bobby Lashley. This will no doubt be another King Of The Ring classic final!

In what can be called the most impressive debuts in some time, The Great Khali dominated the Undertaker on the April 7th edition of Smackdown. In a match with The Undertaker against Mark Henry, Daivari came down to the ring with this huge man. Standing nose to nose with the deadman, you could see that The Undertaker was in for a challange. In a rare sight, Undertakers blows to the face didn't even face this giant. And it only took one chop to the head to knock the Undertaker down. Ever since that event we haven't seen the Undertaker on Smackdown, but had to put up with Daivari and Khali talk about how the Undertaker is scared to return to Smackdown. Just when we were about to lose hope, Teddy Long went to Daivari and told him that The Undertaker challanged The Great Khali to a match at Judgment Day. Now with the match set, can the Undertaker get some revenge on the Great Khali? For the first time in history The Undertaker will be the underdog. This will be one spectical match up between these two giants not to be missed!

For weeks the team of Brian Kendrick and Paul London had been victorious over the WWE Tag Team Champions MNM. They had faced each other in non title matches, singles compitition, and even in six man tag matches. Every time London and Kendrick coming out getting the better of the team of Jonny Nitro and Joey Mercury. After several weeks they were finally given their shot against MNM for the Tag Team Titles. Knowing that the young team had their number, MNM blindsided the challangers leaving them motionless on the ground. Fed up with the actions that occurred on Smackdown, the following Tuesday Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long made the match for Judgment Day. It will now be MNM defending their Titles against the deserving duo of Paul London and Brian Kendrick. Will May 21st be the night where Kendrick and London finally win the titles? Do they have MNM's number? And after the actions which happenned on Smackdown, who will go into this match with the momentum? We will all find out on May 21st when these two young talented teams go at it for the gold.

Ever since the start of the year there has been a rivalry going on between Kurt Angle and Mark Henry. The two had their first meeting at the end of the Smackdown battle royal to determine the World Heavyweight Champion where Kurt Angle was able to get the 400 pounder over the top rope. And then at the Royal Rumble where the two faced off in a bout for the big gold strap. A match where Kurt Angle had to resort to weapons, and hooking the tights to pick up the victory. Recently, the two were both involved in the King of the Ring tournament. Kurt Angle who had already advanced in the first round, was involved in a match against Rey Mysterio for the World Heavyweight Championship. Earlier in the night Henry had lost via count out to Lashley which kicked him out of the tournament. Annoyed with what happenned, Henry came out during the World Title match and literally layed out the challanger Kurt Angle. This included giving him a splash off the apron through a table crushing the wrestling machines ribs. Only two weeks ago we saw Kurt Angle return and demand a match against Henry later on that night. But it wasn't easy as he hadn't been medically cleared to wrestle. So Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long made the match for Judgment Day. It would be 'The World's Strongest Man' vs. 'The Wrestling Machine'. Who know's what it will be like when these two former Olympic compeditors enter the ring? With everything which has taken place in the past month, don't expect this to be anything like their last confrontation at the Royal Rumble.

Ever since winning the WWE Cruiserweight Championship back at the Royal Rumble Helm's has been far too over confident. Even now five months later he thinks he is the greatest Cruiserweight Champion to ever live. This Sunday at Judgment Day he will get his chance to prove that when he goes one on one against one half of the Mexicools Super Crazy. Recently on Smackdown Super Crazy was involved in a triple threat match to determine the number one contender for the Cruiserweight Championship at Judgment Day. Although there was no winner in that match due to an inteferance by the giant Great Khali, Crazy was able to pick up the win the next week when they had a rematch. Will Gregory Helm's title run continue at Judgment Day? Or will Super Crazy be the one who once and for all shut up Helm's?

For over two months there has been bad blood brewing between these men. Ever since the best out of seven series for the United States Championship when Benoit went up against Finlay who was being used as Booker T's replacement. But more recently, it was Chris Benoit vs. Finlay in an openning round in the King of the Ring tournament. Both superstar's went all out with very simmilar styles. A match which could be concidered a great, ended with Finlay picking up the win after getting a cheap chair shot on Benoit, and then his signature Celtic Cross for the pin. Benoit however, didn't let this go easily. At the Judgment Day press confrence Michael Cole announced that a new match was going to take place at the PPV. That match being Chris Benoit vs. Finlay. Along with the announcement, Chris Benoit came out and vowled to make Finlay tap out at Judgment Day. Can Benoit live up to his word this Sunday? Or will Finlay be walking out with his second consecutive win against the Crippler? If history is going to tell us something, that is this won't be a classic wrestling match. Not one for the faint at heart.

On the 21st of May two former allies will enter the ring together. Melina had hired Jillian back in 2005 to be MNM's image consultant when they were going through a bad run. Just a few weeks ago JBL had fired Jillian as his image consultant which gave Melina a perfect oppertunaty to rub it in her face. As she started going on about saying Jillian can put make up on her face, the two begun to have a catfight in the backstage area. On the next week on Smackdown rumors of Jillian challanging Melina for a match at Judgment Day was made official and now the two will face each other in a divas grudge match. With both women having previous wrestling accomplishments, who knows how far this match will go.

Woot! Let's go JBL.

Even though I have that little sinking feeling that tells me he is going to lose to Rey to further put him over as a champ. Hmm...

looks like a good PPV, but only if JBL Wins. If Rey retains then this = Second worst PPV ever next to WM23(or 22 whatever it was this year). Cause Rey has really been a horrible champ but besides that, The finals of KOTR and Jillan vs Melina should be good. Hopefully Jillan pulls a 450 ^_^

Wait a minute. Are you telling me that Wrestlemania 22 was worse then NYR, Royal Rumble, No Way Out, and Backlash? I haven't see it yet but surely it can't be that bad can it...

WM22 wasnt that great at all and Yeah and going on what I ment in the first place where It was bad cause Rey won the title. Rey pretty much hasnt done anything as a champ yet and I highly doubt Rey will do anything as champ...ever.

lol But NYR was awesome cause Cena Lost the belt ^_^

From WWE.com:

SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long has announced that Paul London & Brian Kendrick will challenge MNM at Judgment Day for the WWE Tag Team Championship.

Long's decision came just days after the scheduled SmackDown WWE Tag Team Championship match between the two teams never officially got underway because of MNM's pre-match strike. The actions of Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury left many fans wondering if the champs are scared of defending their titles against London & Kendrick -- the same team that holds four straight victories of them in one form or another.

'And No Way Out was one of the best WWE PPV's in awhile. For a single brand PPV that is. IMO at least.
