WWE's recent storyline, which features Muhammad Hassan and Khosrov Daivari playing Arab-Americans taking out their frustrations on America, has been condemned by a media expert from the United Arab Emirates.
"The world needs to be reassured that America is good and coupled with the abuse issues this programming might do the opposite with respect to public opinion globally," said Dr James Piecowye, assistant professor of Communication and Media Sciences at Zayed University in Dubai.
"World Wrestling Entertainment is exploiting a negative stereotype of Arabs which is perpetrated through news and entertainment media alike to make money," said Piecowye. "WWE is about one thing: money."
"The problem with the entertainment media and especially wrestling programming in general is that it over represents reality and this overrepresentation may be lost on some viewers."
The article went on to talk about the stereotypical statement in Hassan's bio, as well as the fear that as WWE programming is exported across the globe, it might reinforce a negative stereotype.

What a nob this guy is. Anyone in the media who complains, wants nothing more than just as much attention that the thing they are complaining about is getting.

I bet that same guy is blasting the show 24 for being about Arab Terrorists. They have already killed a 16 year old girl in the show as well.
Clearly that show is painting Arabs as a much worse group of people than the WWE currently is.
Man, the mother really makes me want to kill something. Her look, her face, the way she talks. It makes me angry. She is also a horrible actor and I hate watching any scenes she is in! ( Sorry for going off topic.)

You had to figure this storyline would draw some attention. And that is what Vince wants, after all.
And if you read what the critic wrote, its that hes afraid that it makes America look bad to Arabs, and not the other way around. He's afraid that Arabs who watch may take Hassan and Daivari's words to heart, whereas the United States needs to do everything in its power to prove to Arabs (both within the states and abroad) that they are not second-class citizens

WWE has scored if you get some jumped up professor talking about its gimicks. Its a shame that he thinks wrestling fans are so dumb as to not be able to interpret between entertainment and reality perhaps he should restudy his communications qualifictions by auctually speaking to the people he has pre-judged. In the words of the great ECW champ "dirty arab" lol
