Steve Gerweck had the pleasure to interview former WCW World Heavyweight Sting on Tuesday night. The purpose of the interview was to promote Sting’s upcoming movie, “Sting: Moment of Truth,� which will be released on DVD and VHS on October 12th. For information about the movie, visit

The idea for the movie was first conceived in 2002 by George and Kathy King. The movie was filmed in March and April of this year. “Moment of Truth� highlights Sting’s brilliant career, from the blonde flat top through all the character changes. The film ends with Sting excepting Jesus Christ as his savior, and saving his troubled marriage. “Moment of Truth� features authentic wrestling film from Sting’s career. In addition, a book featuring personal photographs and dealing with the making of the movie is also slated to be released on October 12th.

In regards to retirement from wrestling, Sting stated that he hasn’t closed the door yet. In the interview,
Sting said that he wouldn’t be opposed to working for TNA again since he will always have a soft spot for the Jarrett’s. Sting stated that TNA has some really good guys, and hopes they make it.

Sting first got interested in becoming a professional wrestler after seeing a WWF show in Los Angeles which featured the likes of Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, and Big John Studd. In 1985, Sting went to wrestling camp and was hired by Jerry Jarrett.

In the interview, Sting admitted that he occasionally watches the WWE product. Sting sees WWE making
similar mistakes that WCW made in featuring the same talent on a regular basis. In regards to never working for Vince McMahon, Sting stated that he had discussions with McMahon before last year’s Wrestlemania and the one prior to it. He admitted that they came close to a deal once.

In regards to McMahon buying WCW, Sting recalled being in shock, and took it personally since he had never jumped to the WWF. Sting admitted that WCW ultimately failed because of “things we all did.� Sting had eighteen months on his WCW contract when McMahon purchased the company. He was surprised that he was never approached about a contract buyout.

When asked about a best match, Sting noted his classic Clash of the Champions match with Ric Flair, their match at the 1990 Great American Bash in Baltimore, and his WCW title victory over Hulk Hogan at Starrcade ‘98.

When asked about the possibility of working for Ted Turner again if he were to re-enter the world of professional wrestling, Sting admitted he was open to the idea.

For career regrets, Sting stated he regrets not working with the likes of Triple H, Shawn Michaels, The Rock and The Undertaker.

Sting also mentioned that he excepted Jesus Christ in August 1998. Sting believes he has something left to do in front of the camera, whether it be in wrestling or as an actor. He admitted that he misses wrestling - the guys, the story lines, and the fans. Sting hopes that people will enjoy the “Moment of Truth� movie and will want to find out who Jesus Christ is.
