| Nothing against Paul Heyman, but the fact that he's back on the writing team isn't exactly earth shattering news, and I'll tell you why.
You guys have probably heard about how the WWE writing team works but if not, here's an idea. You've got Brian Gewirtz serving as the "lead writer" for Raw, and David Lagana as the "lead writer" for SmackDown!. The creative staff for each brand does their brainstorming during the week, puts the ideas together, and then the lead writers pitch the ideas (along with Stephanie McMahon) to Vince McMahon, who approves or declines what's presented to him. Heyman, who has that saleman's mentality and I think is a good pitchman, doesn't have the influence that he once did, and essentially (or at least technically) reports to Gewirtz. So suffice to say, I imagine that only a percentage of Heyman's ideas are getting through compared to when he was a lead writer. Just speculation on my part. |
