The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that at recent meetings Vince McMahon has talked about reforming the public’s view of ECW.
Vince has mentioned cutting back on the "Extreme Rules" matches and not even doing them at house shows anymore. They will continue on with currently announced "Extreme Rules" matches, but will slow down drastically after those are done.

ECW is not the ECW of 10 years ago. Should they have named it that, Business wise: yes, In respect of ECW's legacy: no.
But at the end of the day, they're trying to make this into a global entity, these changes will need to be made with live event and weekly television, Extreme Rules matches will get tired. So keep them for special occasions, let them really bust out int hose matches, and the brand can still be semi-unique.

I saw this coming a few weeks ago when vince was complaining about how ECW was ran and how hardcore it was for WWE. I don't see how this can be done becuase ECW has built like a hardcore dungeon and was alot about the wrestlers can beat down with a stick or chair. It wouldn't fit in a Raw atmosphere really becuase all the superstars are hardcore and don't know any better. Vince doesn't realize he would be making a huge mistake if he makes ECW boring and all wrestlers instead of what Extreme Wrestling. Should be interesting to watch over the next month or too to see what Vince does with what he has been nagging about.
