Here's the story on why Jim Neidhart is on Impact next week

As posted earlier, Jim Neidhart worked the TNA Impact taping tonight for the episode that will air on 11/12, pinning Jay Lethal.
Neidhart was brought in as part of a new storyline for Jay Lethal where he faces off against different "legends." I am told the storyline was something that was in the works before the Hulk Hogan deal went down last week, so the two issues are independent of each other. Other "legendary" names will be coming in as well.

I would go crazy if the end result is for Jay Lethal vs Randy Savage on PPV. I don't care if that match would be horrible. Sadly, with Hogan in TNA, it's extremely doubtful it'd happen now.

I always knew Lethal would never work in TNA. They tried to make him out into a lionheart with bad charisma, then stick him with a famous gimmick (suprisingly going for about three years now), then give him bad title runs, then stick him into tag team hell with the worst wrestler in tNA, now he's in jobber purgatory. He is such a talent but has been extremely unappealing in TNA. The only thing he was good in was his feud with Sonjay, and that was misbooked and lame.

Maybe this whole storyline is going to see Lethal drop the Macho Man gimmick. I would love to see that happen just because he has become beyond stale with it by now. Lethal is talented, as some have already stated, and he deserves better than a rip off gimmick.

This angle sounds retarded.
Have a young guy with potential who at one point you had Angle put over lose to one off legends that for the most part wouldn't draw a crowd on a 100 dollar indie show. Not planning to use the legends more than once, or a few times at best TNA gets no upside.
I'll reserve judgment until this angle finishes, but it sounds more counter productive then anything. Lethal is one of the few X Division guys who I feel has enough appeal to blend into the Heavyweight Division. I'm not advocating a title run, or even a title shot. But Lethal could be a good secondary upper carder for now.

I partially agree. I'd love to see him keep the tights at the very least as they are colourful and make him stand out a lot.
They need to pull a Kofi Kingston with him and have him start talking as if he was a normal human being, and not the star of an Anti-Smoking PSA.
Drop the glasses/music/nick name as they all make him come off as a wannabe.
I'm not aware of whether or not he is a heel or face, but if I remember correctly the gimmick was part of Nash's involvement with the cruiserweights. In which case a good introduction feud would be him attacking Nash and justifying it by saying that he (Lethal) had the potential to be a TNA Heavyweight Champion by now, but instead Nash convinced him to focus his time trying to stand out by acting like a rip off of a wrestler who hasn't been relevant for over a decade. In return for all the frustration Nash's false guidance has caused him, he is going to make his name off of ending Kevin Nash's career.
