It's also interesting to note that WWE's website is listing Extreme Rules 2009 for May 23rd, 2010. If that is correct, it would mean that WWE's traditional May PPV, Judgment Day will join No Way Out and Cyber Sunday, among others, as discontinued event names.

Well I heard a while ago that the WWE are going to cut down to 12 PPV's a year I guess Judgment Day was the first of the 2 to go.

Aren't they calling it "War Games" despite not actually doing, ya know, WarGames?
No, "War Games" is just one option in a poll that WWE sent out.
Crocker, I don't think this means they are dropping down to 12 PPVs. WWE has switched PPVs around before, remember when they switched The Great American Bash and Night of Champions around? NOC used to be in June and GAB in July, then WWE switched them.

According to Mike Johnson at pwinsider they have been thinking strongly about dropping 2 PPV's.

Hell, just got back to the main four and call it a day! Give stories 3 months to build and go back to having champions for 1-2 years at a time. I'll give everyone 3 months to build characters and come up with reasonable challengers...
