It will be interesting to see if he does branch out into MMA. Promoting is in the McMahon family blood.
Shanes grandfather Jess McMahon, promoted boxing as well as wrestling, Vince McMahon Sr carried on the promoting tradition with wrestling, Vince Jr has tried to branch out with the bodybuilding federation and the XFL so maybe it's time for the 4th generation McMahon to move with the times and promote MMA. I have no doubt he has the business acumen to succeed, but will he have the financial clout to compete with the likes of the UFC? Hopefully we get to find out, if he chooses this career path.
As we mentioned earlier this week on the site, talking about Shane McMahon's leaving WWE in front of Vince McMahon has become a taboo subject, one along the lines of mentioning Randy Savage.
On yesterday's conference call, Vince McMahon's tone suggested to many that he had removed Shane from power. One story I have heard a few times over the last 24 hours refutes that. I want to say in advance that I can't tell you with 100% certainty that this is true, but I have heard it from a few people so what I can tell you is that it is going around in at least a few WWE circles.
As the story goes, Vince and Shane were discussing something, I believe at Titan Towers in Stamford, a few weeks back. Whatever the issue was, they began to argue, with people not far away hearing the escalating tensions. Finally, it turned into a full-fledged argument, with Shane telling his father that he had had enough of him and was leaving the company. According to the story, Shane did not quit in order to immediately go into something else. He did so in the heat of the moment. That isn't to say that it was a knee-jerk decision however. Other sources have told me that Shane was concerned about being away from his family for the extended lengths of time that he usually is and that very well may have factored into his decision to quit.

Sounds like he doesn't have to do squat if he doesn't want to
Quote:
If you are wondering about what Shane McMahon is worth, at one point some time back, he cashed in approximately $50 million from the company. The stock he currently has is worth another $30 million, so that’s the ballpark level. At the present time, he owns a 2.8% stake in the company.

In other UFC news, Shane McMahon was recently spotted at UFC offices. Dana White was asked about it and offered "no comment". I have a lot of news on what Shane McMahon plans on doing after leaving WWE in our Premium section. Click here for more.
I'm 50/50 on rather its true or not. But if it is, I'm surprised that Shane would visit the top MMA company. I'd assume he'd want to get a gig with a competitor of UFC.
