According to the Pro Wrestling Torch newsletter, Scott Steiner has been telling friends for a couple of months now that he doesn't expect to stick around TNA much longer.Steiner is close friends with Jeff Jarrett, and people within the company assume he won't stick around long if he's under the impression there's no chance of Jeff coming back. Those close to the situation say that Steiner, now 47, has been financially prepared to retire for several years. Those close to him say that Steiner still has the desire to perform despite the everyday pain he endures from years of injuries.
In January of this year, a report was published with the following quote from a fellow wrestler: "If Scott has a decent, hard match where he takes five or ten bumps, he is feeling much more pain than the average beat up wrestler and he feels it for up to 24 hours after the match. His back is so bad, watching him go through a 12 step process to sit in a car seat is excruciating." During the Monday Night Wars era, he developed one of the worst backstage reputations in the business. Since then, TNA sources say Steiner has been a pleasure to work with. Even during his short WWE run prior to joining TNA, sources say he kept to himself and didn't cause any trouble like he did in WCW.
I was expecting him to be cut down on when he and Book lose the titles anyway, but it looks like he wont stick around if that happens. I think he's in better shape in the ring than he has been for quite a while now so I'd expect him to continue wrestling part time.

Steiner isnt that bad. So I'd like to see him wrestle on a limited basis. Maybe just 4 matches a year or something like Mick Foley used to do for WWE. Steiner is a pretty big name so I think that him sticking around and putting over the younger talent would be good. But overall I hope he just does what's right for his own health.

Re: Scott Steiner leaving TNA?
I do agree that younger guys on TNA need to be pushed more. That being said, I must admit that I have enjoyed Steiner in his TNA run more than I ever enjoyed him in WCW or WWE. He seems to understand his issues cutting a promo and so it seems like he's taking a more humorous route these days with any talking he does. Maybe I'm just imagining it though. But he seems funnier and more calm now rather than obnoxious as I felt he could sometimes get while he was in NWO. It would be nice to see him stick around.

It's strange to say, considering how much I used to hate him, but if Steiner left I'd actually miss him. His in ring performances aren't great (although they're are better than they've been for a very long time) but his mic work has been stellar. He's hilarious and really shines on the stick. It'll be a shame to watch him disappear from TNA and work sparodically for the indy's.

I think Steiner contributes more than most of the MEM members as it is. He puts in more effort even if he doesn't quite have it anymore. But there are so many members on the roster I don't think he'd be a loss. Although the same can be said for almost everybody in TNA.

In the nicest way possible I don't see Steiner having too long left to live in general. Years of hard wrestling and steroid abuse will catch up with him.
I've always been rather neutral to Steiner, not objective but not particular a "fan" of him. But if he goes, it sounds like he's full stop gone.
Steiner doesn't have much to offer, besides the crazy promos he cuts, so I really won't miss him if he leaves. The only thing though is he's always been more than willing to put guys over. If he wants to stick around and do that for another 6 months I would be all for it, but since he's secure financially and tight with JJ, I expect him gone before the end of the year.
