WWE vs. NFL, and we're not talking about Raw vs. Monday Night Football.
As noted earlier today, WWE has scheduled the 2010 WWE Royal Rumble to take place on January 24th, 2010, the same day as the NFL Championship Round. The Rumble, set to take place at Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, will be on opposite the AFC Championship game on CBS or NFC Championship game on FOX.
Since the Rumble was established as WWE's January PPV event, the company has usually taken great care to make sure that the event was held on the Sunday between the Championship games and the Superbowl, on the one weekend of the month that does not have an NFL game (2003 would be a notable exception, and the buyrate suffered for it). However, this time (unless they make a change), WWE is going to force fans to choose between their second biggest PPV event of the year, and the second biggest professional football games of the year.
Say good bye to some pay per view buys. Why are they trying to fuck up their PPV's?

Wow, WWE thinks they can take on everybody, especially the NFL. This will be another failed attempted by WWE, to compete with the NFL. Look what happened to the XFL? XFL never had another season because of low ratings and Vince's stupidity. I'm choosing the NFL anyday over WWE, because it's exciting and is more watchable. The NFL got no scripts, no gimmicks, and no Vince. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

What they are probably hoping for is that as long as the NFL games themselves don't go up into the 8PM hour which most likely will happen, then the WWE can get some plugs out of this unless they just push it forward a week then they are going up against the Pro Bowl which is actually a week before the Superbowl this year.

They can't make up buyrates anymore, they are a publicly traded company and have to report their numbers to the SEC. If they report false numbers they could be in big trouble.
This won't bother me since I was planning to either stream the PPV or download it, but not a good idea by WWE. The Pro Bowl never gets big ratings, so it would have been better to go against that.

At least he's not stupid enough to go up against the Super Bowl.
