This is really terrible news. Much like what Requiem said, Edge & Jericho were the first tag champions in a very long time that I actually cared about. I was really hoping to see Edge & Jericho get a good reign as champions but sadly it isn't going to happen now. It would be cool for Jericho to continue on as tag champion and defend the belts in Handicap matches, that'd be something interesting for Jericho to do. Rated Y2J got shut down before it had a real chance to begin, this sucks majorly!

It should work out well for Matt Hardy. He'll take Edge's heel spot and he'd be my guess as to who'll take his spot in the team. Even if it's just when Jericho loses the belt.

The Edge ankle injury is a torn Achilles heel tendon, something that depending on the severity, could keep him out of the ring until January 2010.
Obviously, WWE is going to have to figure out a plan to move the Unified Tag titles off of Edge and Chris Jericho shortly.

They show Edge taken out backstage, who did it you all wonder? Edge returns in January, heel. Christian welcomes him backstage after his first match back.
You know what's going to happen, you see it coming, but it takes 8 weeks for WWE to pull the trigger. Then there's an Edge vs. Christian match at WrestleMania.

Just a guess, but WWE might do an angle where Jericho and Edge lose the titles sometime this week, probably as early as Raw in a situation where Jericho works the entire match, never tags in Edge, then turns on him and beats him up in a bitter rage after the match. It would make sense because it would put more heat on Jericho and give WWE a reason to take Edge off the story lines for a while. Jericho's going to have to do something pretty extreme though and Edge will have to be able to tough it out for at least 5 minutes while Chris has his way with him.
Of course. I still like the idea of Jericho carrying 4 belts to the ring, but Edge's departure wouldn't put any heat on anyone that way.

WWE brought this on themselves. Edge and Jericho have had to wrestle an insane amount of matches recently (between Sun and Tues, they each wrestled SIX matches!), and an injury was bound to happen.
