You're right, a rinky dink indy fed that does the majority of their shows in little armories with crowds of a few hundred has a world title, but an organizations that gets thousands of people for even their smallest house shows plus gets millions of fans worldwide watching on TV doesn't. Who cares if the ROH title gets defended against some no-name indy wrestlers who will never be a star in wrestling and who will be forgotten about in the history of wrestling. You seem to have some kind of anti-WWE feelings for some reason, but there is no denying that WWE has at least 2 world titles (maybe 3). I would like to hear your reasons for thinking they aren't world titles, I doubt that will be good but I will listen to them.

/back near the topic. Please create a new thread if you wish to continue talking about what is and isnt a world title, it has gone way too far off topic here.

horrorfan, that is a heap of BS. WWE a regional title? The WWE Championship is the top title in professional wrestling, no other title can even come close to claiming to be the top title. A title does not have to be defended against local wrestlers. Would you doubt UFC's claims to be the top titles in MMA just because they only let their champions (who rarely ever defend their titles anyways) defend their titles against only UFC contracted fighters?
I see what you're saying about the WWE Title being the World Title in wrestling, but Jim has a point to. Yes, the WWE has been around forever, and yes, it has been established by being defended around the world against many wrestlers from many nationalities, as well as being held by a few none Americans. It's even possible to claim that WWE's Title is now so well known, and so well established that need only be defended against a select few we the WWE see fit to challenge for the belt... However, it would be nice if every now and then, when WWE went abroad its Champion faced that countries top star, just to show that the belt wasn't only available to Americans.
Also, I see no reason to bring the UFC Titles into this debate. The schedule MMA fighters work to is a gruelling one, and considering they fight legitimately I don't see how you can complain they "rarely ever defend they belts" as they do it as often as medically and physically allowed to. The UFC also scouts for the best talent around the globe, in order to back up their claim they have the best talent from around the globe. Their Champions hail from Brazil, Canada, and the US, and they have many Japanese, British, and European fighters vying for Title shots. Your point here is moot.
No other organization can even come close to claiming they have a world title.
But that's not true, as the NWA's Title is a well established belt (yes, it's a shadow of it's former self, but it's still a World Title given where it's defend, and who it's defended against) as is the ROH Title, which may only be on a rinky dink show on a rinky dink network, to a smattering of fans, but it's still a World Title, because of who and where it's defended
WWE having a World Title? To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. They have three "World" titles that can only be defended against maybe a dozen guys a piece? The whole idea of having three World titles in one company, while dividing up the contracted roster into threes pretty much makes the whole concept of a World Title a joke.
The WWE belt is a World Title, that really can't be argued, given it's extensive history. The World Heavyweight, and ECW Title meet the specifications (just) of being a World Title, but as you have said, the concept of having three World Titles in one company is a complete joke.
Indeed. Did we all see SmackDown yet? If not !!SPOILER ALERT!! Edge cut a promo that was very strongly face, and Jericho was less than sympathatic to his injuries. It was brilliant and already makes Edge seem fresh again. Yay!

Defending a title 2 or 3 times a year is pathetic. It seems that the higher up you get in MMA (and boxing for that matter), the less often you fight. Lower level MMA fighters will compete 6 or 7 times a year, higher level MMA fighters drop. Look at Lesnar, he won the UFC Heavyweight Championship back in November but didn't defend it until last week. That is 8 months before he defended it for the first time. I won't get more into this because God is right about this getting too off topic.
Good move by WWE in his interview. He showed no heel tendencies at all and set up his return next year as a face and a feud with Jericho.

Edge vs Jericho at WM26 (obviously).......man. That is gonna be fucking EPIC. I can't wait to see that shit. Hurry up and get well, Edge. This will be the feud of 2009 (or 2010). Whenever it takes place.

I could argue about this with you all day and I doubt either of our opinions would change, so unless someone's actually started the thread that G suggested, we'll leave the Title debating here for now, as it is somewhat off topic.
I'm so excited about an Edge face turn though. He's not been a face for so long, and an Edge face turn is just what he needs, and it could even be the catalyst in a Cena heel turn if it's as well recieved as I believe it will be.
