If you dont count ROH you cant count ECW. ROH present the title as a world title, WWE present the ECW title as an opener on PPV's. One year the ECW champion was in the Royal Rumble, that pretty much shows how highly they rank it. I dont consider ECW a world title. Raw, Smackdown, TNA & ROH are the only American world titles imo. Maybe NWA but that is pushing it.

Punk is a 3 time world champion (2 World Heavyweight Championship, 1 ECW Championship), 4 time if you consider ROH's title to be a world title (I personally don't, but some do).
ROH have defended the Title in Britain, Canada, and Japan... It's a more deserving World Title than the ECW Title.
NWA is also a World Title... As is the FIP Title as Roderick Strong defended it outside of American boarders, therefore qualifying it as a World Title. But then, is FIP even still going? Haha!!

The ROH title is more of a World Title than the WWE Title. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

They're all freaking world titles? Like really? I'm not into that whole arguement about what is and what's not a World title, but to the original topic.:
Seems like they're going to have Dolph replace Edge, which will be pretty ftw.

An ECW Championship match is on average seen by 100,000-500,000 viewers each month. ROH's is seen by about 1% of that.
ROH's championship will not be a world championship until they have an international television show on the level of ECW or TNA, that is the bare minimum for having a World title.
As far as prestige of championships go it goes WWE/WHC/ECW/IC/TNA World, then you have a slew of secondary championships meshed in there.....and then ROH. It does not mean I am not a fan of the ROH championship, but being IC Champion at the moment is ridiculously more important than being ROH Champion.

So the fact that the ROH Title has been defended outside of the US, and in fact has been defended in several other countries, means nothing to you?
I agree that the audience that views Title defences does effect the prestige of that Title... However, TV viewing figures mean nothing when catergorising a Title as a World Title. The ECW belt to my knowledge has never been defended outside of the United States (please do correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't done any research to back that point up and will happily admit if I'm wrong) therefore it isn't a World Title. It can be catergorised as a US Title, or a TV Title, but it is not a World Title. The ROH Title is. It's really that simple when your catergorising the Title. Its prestige is a totally different argument.

Nope it don't and you want to know why? It's simple, it doesn't matter where it's defended, what really matter is what promotion is it. I know IWC fans have something to say about this but the WWE, World, ECW title are more "prestigues" than the TNA, ROH, NWA... etc titles. Regardless of what the company is, the main belts are WWE's if you ask your average fan, and that's who WWE aims too.

...but like...what does that have to do with whether a title is a World Title or not?
Once upon a time, a title became a World Title once it began being defended all around the world instead of an area of the world. To further point out that it was a World Title, the champion would defend the belt against wrestlers of the other countries typically who were in the same association (Whether NWA or AWA mainly). I can go out to my garage and throw together a cheap title and proclaim myself the JWF World Champion. I can even somehow go on every major talk/news show in the world to showcase that title. Yet, it's not a World Title since I haven't defended it in other countries.
I don't really understand how or when people had this delusion that world title status is dictated on how well known a company is compared to others. That really has nothing to do with it.
