WWE should just take TNA's approach and make their shows so unwatchable that most hardcore fans wouldn't even watch them for free. That in turn would kill the streams.
After having watched Judgement Day, it seems they're headed in that direction.

I actually usually do stream because I'm not the patient sort of person to download it and piss off to do something for a couple of hours. Plus getting to chat with some friends while watching it live can be fun. Even so, I haven't streamed the last two PPVs so this isn't really anything heart-breaking.
Fifty dollars is just downright outrageous though. It could be the highest-quality show imaginable and I still don't think it would be worth it. Thirty bucks is more than reasonable in my opinion and if they put on a quality show then I don't think anyone has any room to complain.
But fifty dollars, thirty dollars, or completely free, I'm not going to watch if they keep on putting out bad shows. Pretty pointless of them to do this, because even if they managed to somehow stop every stream on the intarwebs I could still download it the next day if for whatever reason I got that desperate.

World Wrestling Entertainment finally went after Justin.tv recently as all of the illegal streams the website featured of last night's Extreme Rules PPV were immediately shut down by the website, noting it was due to demands from the "copyright owner." Good to see WWE finally going after avenues that were costing them money.
GJ, WWE. Good luck shutting down all the downloads that pop up less than 12 hours after the event. They're way more reliable and of better quality than streams. Who cares if it isn't live?

I don't even bother with JTV. There are downloads and streams that for whatever reason can legally charge 2 bucks via Paypal and don't get shut down.
The thing is, the average person barely knows how to use torrents let alone is part of the downloading "scene". Most people just know how to use Limewire.
JTV being very simple is accessible to most WWE fans. So by shutting down JTV's streams the WWE has essentially won.
JTV streams at times brought in as many as 500,000 viewers, downloads bring in a few thousand at most judging by view counts I see. Consiering downloads are not live either, it's safe to say it hurts WWE's DVD sales more than the live PPV sales, and even that is a stretch. Small fries, small fries.
Shutting down JTV is a good start since JTV is pretty much the popular streaming site on the net. I was looking in a discussion thread on another forum & a lot of the guys there were saying that most of the streams on JTV were shut down. No biggy there will always be streams there & even if they managed to find a way to shut down every single stream on the net all people will do is wait a couple of hours & download it.
