At tonight's TNA Impact taping in Orlando, Florida, Petey Williams lost a "loser leaves town" match. We have confirmed this will be Williams' last match for the company as he is being released.
We have also confirmed that Lance Hoyt/Rock is also done with TNA.
More TNA releases are expected, but have not yet been confirmed.
I'm going to miss Petey because he was a brilliant wrestler when he wasn't this Scott Steiner reject crap. Really is a shame he is being released, he was one of those guys that made TNA stand out. The Canadian Destroyer will be greatly missed.
About time they relesed Lance Hoyt. Terrible to pair him with Jimmy Rave, only held a new superstar down. Hopefully they'll start using Rave now to his full potential. Would love to see him face Shelley or even some of the other X Division stars in singles action.

Thank God Lance Rock is gone. I really disliked the team with Rave. I can at least hope Rave might get a singles push now, although the release of Petey Williams shows that they don't know how to push guys, even if he is overrated by many people.

I don't watch TNA anymore but when I did Petey was probably my second favourite in TNA. Really surprising pretty sure last time I saw the product he was X division champion.
And it's official, TNA completely misused Lance Hoyt until people finally just stopped caring. Without any sort of push, he was one of the more over wrestlers they had in 2005. With the kind of reactions he was getting and his natural ability (For a big man, he was fairly talented), he could of been such a major star for TNA. Shame.
As for Petey, this has been a long time coming. Team Canada ending was also the end for Petey. For a few years, Petey had the benefit of a flashy move and a manager who actually knew what heel heat was and how to get it. However, when you watch his work in other promotions (Without D'Amore), his weaknesses showed through. While he wasn't a terrible wrestler, it became clear that he was all hype (Thanks Canadian Destroyer) and D'Amore did all of the work to get him over. Williams had a few good years and he should be pleased. However, I can't shed any tears over this.

There is something I don't get. If TNA was going to release Petey why not do it when he was off TV and not have him return for 3 weeks then fire him. <!-- google_ad_section_end -->
