So in 1990, Rick Rude was supposed to feud with the Big Boss Man over comments Bobby Heenan said about Boss Man's mom. Rude, unhappy about being depushed, quit the WWE and would show up in WCW a year later. In 1993, The Big Boss Man left the WWE after five years. By the end of the year, The British Bulldog and Rick Rude were about to start a feud over Rude's International Title. However, a fight in a bar would lead to Bulldog being in legal trouble when the guy he beat up got brain damage. So, this would lead to Bulldog's release from WCW. Meanwhile, to fill the void, WCW brought in the Big Boss Man. They took off the 'Big Boss Man' patch on his shirt and changed his name to 'The Boss'. Needless to say, the WWE wasn't happy that WCW copied their creation. So the Boss gimmick didn't last long.
Anyways, this is The Boss' debut in WCW filling in for The British Bulldog and finally having the feud with Rude that was started three years prior.
