If you own a 360, and get the "Open Tray" issue(where the disc whirrs, but all you get is an "Open Tray" message from your 360, I fixed it. Granted, mine was ultimately beyond normal repair because of all the damage I had done neglecting it.

Haha, that's awesome Mike. If my 360 broke I would most likely mess it up doing surgery on it like that, even though it probably wasn't difficult. Are you going to leave it like that or are you going to buy a new one?

You should have done what I did and just buy a new one, swap out all the guts and bring the new one back to the store for a full refund imo.
