ok so im in the process of building a new computer that i will hook up to my 40 inch hdtv. i use my laptop now but its getting kind of dated for todays standards. is there any way i can hook them up together so when i just wanna surf the web and such i can use my laptop(its stationary on a desk about 5 feet from the hdtv) and then when i wanna game or watch movies i can send it to my hdtv?
so basically i want my HDTV as my main monitor and my laptop to be used only as a 2nd monitor really.
I am assuming your tv has an HDMI port. If your laptop also has one, you just need an HDMI cable to connect the two. Usually one of the PF keys on your laptop can switch the video output between the laptop monitor and the tv.
If you don't have an HDMI port on your laptop, you can get a VGA cable too. Basically you need to find out what ports you have on the back of your laptop and TV and go from there.
Places like Best Buy usually have the equipment you need.
ok, so im gonna have my PC tower hooked up to my tv thru hdmi. i dont have hdmi on my laptop but i have VGA on both and i have a cord. so i should be able to do this with hooking my pc tower up thru hdmi and then having a vga cord from my tv to my laptop?
