I been thinking? Is there such thing as a Madden Cover Curse? Ever since John Madden stopped appearing on the cover, NFL athletes started appearing on them. It's strange because after they appeared on the cover, they suffered an injury in their following career or effect their stats. Here are some of the victims that could suffered this:
Vince Young Young finished the 2007 season with 2,459 passing yards with 9 touchdowns and 17 interceptions and rushed for 395 yards and TD. After a year he appeared on the cover, he blew out his knee and Kerry Collins took his place, taking the team to a 13-3 record.
Shaun Alexander Before appearing on the Madden 07 cover, he rushed for 1880 yards and 27 TD. When he appeared on the cover, he suffered a broken foot missing 6 games, his stats dropped like crazy, never rushed 1000 yards again. After he was released, no team but the Redskins picked him up, but the Redskins wasted their time with him, and released him. Bad luck for Shaun.
Daunte Culpepper Before appearing on the Madden 2002 cover, nothing could stop Culpepper. After he appeared on the '02 cover, he injured his knee and his gameplay didn't matchup well. In 2008, when he played for the Lions, he wasn't much help, as the Lions went winless the entire season.
I'm not sure if there's such a thing, but it's eerie. Look at most of the covers of Madden and tell me they suffered problems later in their career, because I somewhat believe in the Madden Curse.

/random Monk memory.
Eddie What'shisface from the titans got injured after being on the cover too. I think Ray lewis had the same problem. not sure though.

Yeah this isn't exactly breaking news. Favre seemed to get off easy so far while Vick seemed to get it the worst getting raped in the showers of some jail right now To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
The NHL ones actually went through a bad period too.... especially NHL 2004!
NHL 99: The "Madden Curse" originally began as an EA Sports curse, notably in its NHL series, after Lindros appeared on the cover of NHL '99.
During the 1998-99 season, Lindros had amassed an impressive 93 points in 71 games, until his season came to an abrupt end with a collapsed lung during a game in Carolina. The following season he was stripped of his captaincy after criticizing team doctors and missed 10 weeks to post-concussion syndrome. During Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, he suffered a major concussion when hit by Devils' defenseman Scott Stevens in just his second game since returning from PCS. That would be his last game in a Flyers uniform, as he sat out the entire 2000-01 season in a contract dispute and was consequently traded to the Rangers.
NHL 2000: Pronger may be the only exception in a seven-year span of jinxed NHL cover boys, posting a career-high 14 goals and 62 points following his cover appearance. However, he would miss nearly the entire 2002-03 season, requiring a high-risk surgery on his left wrist that threatened to end his all-star career.
NHL 2001: Nolan scored a career-high 44 goals and 84 points the previous season and found the net eight times in 10 playoff games with the Sharks. After the 2000-01 season, he had just 24 goals and 49 points, with only one goal in six playoff games. His scoring-touch has declined even further since.
NHL 2002: Super Mario stunned the hockey world when he returned to the NHL in December 2000 after a three-year retirement. It appeared as though he'd never left as he scored 35 goals and 76 points in just 43 games. The following season (2001-02) Lemieux spent all but 24 games on injured reserve and scored just six goals as the Penguins failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 1990.
NHL 2003: Iginla was the league's leading scorer in both goals (52) and points (96) in 2001-02. He finished the following season with 35 goals and 67 points in 75 games, not even among the top 30 scorers in the league.
NHL 2004: After EA's original choice, Joe Thornton, was charged with assaulting police, the up-and-coming Heatley was selected for the cover of NHL 2004. Four days after the official release date, he crashed his Ferrari into a wall at around 80 mph, ejecting him and his passenger, friend and teammate Dan Snyder. Heatley suffered a broken jaw, a minor concussion, a bruised lung and kidney, and tore three ligaments in his right knee. Snyder was critically injured with a skull fracture, fell into a coma, and died six days later. EA switched the cover to Joe Sakic following the accident, although many copies had already been shipped and sold.
NHL 2005: Naslund had finished among the top four scorers in the league in each of his three seasons prior to the NHL lockout of 2004-05. While the majority of players have benefited from the post-lockout NHL, Naslund has not. In 2005-06, he was not even in the top 25 in scoring. Despite having played in all 82 games this past season, he scored a paltry 60 points.
NHL 06-07: While the "Madden Curse" continues, the NHL curse may have ended with the lockout, since Lecavalier and Ovechkin have experienced little, if any, ill effects since their covers were released.
NHL 08: Staal and his brothers got arrested when a bachelor party got out of hand but he didn't get injured or have a bad season.
NHL 09: I have a plane ticket to Vancouver and baseball bat ready if something happens to Phaneuf! To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. At least Iginla recovered from his cursed season.
If you go back further players like John Vanbiesbrouck also got cursed by NHL covers but the site I used just started with the Lindros one and ended with Ovechkin To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Try people for the last 7 years have been thinking bud, I love people who try to say Vince broke the curse, he fucking sucked last year.
Vince wasn't anything special last year and I never said anything about him breaking the curse. We're better off with Kerry Collins than that the-fans-don't-like-me QB we got.
