360 Controller Change On The Way?

Unfortunately, we can't seem to locate any pictures of the new controller just yet (actually, we might not even need pictures because it's been said that the controller really looks pretty much the same as the standard one), but reports coming in from the showfloor state that the redesign is sporting "an eight-way input taking place of the previous four." This might be a relief for some of you who've got some sticky D-Pad, yes?

The new controller was spotted at a Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 demo booth, and is expected to be released some time the game. If that's so, we can probably see the new 360 controller as soon as Autumn or Winter this year. It's also been noted that the redesign of the controller was implemented with the upcoming release of Street Fighter IV

Not much of an improvement but still, its a step forward i suppose.

It is only going to be a limited edition controller bundled in with a PES 360 bundle in Europe and not a permanent solution to the D-pad. Hopefully Microsoft realize just how stupid that is and in the future it does replace all controllers. I will still take the crappy 360 D-pad over the PS3 one any day though

not i sir. the 360 dpad actually hurts my thumb. maybe if it was just softer like some sort of rubber than it wouldnt bother me.

I very rarely use the thing tbh. It's not often you have to, generally just stick to the toggles

Oh man, I thought they were going to do a complete redesign. I would have hated that. The 360 controller is the best controller I've ever used, except for that queer little d-pad, of course.
