Name brand? Never heard of BenQ. I just picked up this one: To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. at best buy, found a open box item and got it for $199.00. 22", bright clear display. I love this monitor. I had a 17" before and this one blows it away. I'm still amazed how inexpensive they are. Remember when a 17" CTR was almost grand or more!
Now, if I could find a 42" LCD television for around 500 bucks, I'd be all set.
I have only used them at the school library before and the web pages didn't even take up the whole screen.
What is the benefit of having such a large screen if the whole screen isn't even going to be used?

depending on your graphics card, you can run split screen applications, you can rotate the monitor display to show length wise (Portrait) as opposed to landscape, but best of all, if you play games or watch movies on it, you have the whole monitor to display it. I download movies every once in a while and watch them on my computer, and the 22" screen is great.
You're right though. Depending on the application, such as browsing the net... you have alot of blank space most of the time. Some pages expand to fit the screen. But applications like AutoCAD (for drafting) excel, photoshop, etc... they would utilize the entire screen area.

Because the better the resolution the better things will look. And some websites will take up the whole screen and it just depends on the site like mentioned. But even sites that don't take up the whole screen usually fill in the space with the background image still. But games and stuff will still always take up the whole screen and after playing a PC game in 1920x1200 there is no going back To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. I would also suggest trying to find a good deal on a Dell monitor. My old Dell CRT monitor and newer 24" LCD Dell totally blow away any other monitors I have ever used. Actually my Dell UltraSharp 2407FPW has impressed me more than the three HDTV sets we have had even. Such a great monitor To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater.
