Son of a bitch. Two years ago, I bought a Sony 55" LCD TV from Circuit City. I also purchased the extended warranty plan, which covered anything that could happen to the tv - lamp burns out, fans die, pixels go out, whatever. A customer associate would come to your house and fix whatever the problem is and you wouldn't pay an extra dime for it. Cool, right?
Well, last month the two year warranty expired and I got phone calls and letters asking me to renew. I figured - ah hell, screw it the tv has been great thus far, it should be good for a while. So I passed on it. Now, two week after it expired, my tv dies.
So the guy came over this morning and took a look to see that the main fan blew out, and as a result the lamp overheated and I would be looking at $1,500 in repairs (because I don't have the warranty plan anymore). That's close to the cost of the tv itself!!!
So I said fuck that, I'm going to just get a new tv. I'm thinking a Samsung. And, oh yeah, I'll be sure to buy the warranty plan.
Anyone have any recommendations? I am taking a liking to this baby: To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
i thought Dell quit making tvs? anyways i have two HDTV's
a dell 32 inch LCD(its fuckin terrible)
and a sony 40 inch LCD bravia(its fuckin glorious)
i honesty have had nothing but problems wiht my DELL. it will get hot and turn on after abotu 20 minutes of it being on and then it automatically turns back on and is on MUTE for some reason. its just a pain.
The main difference between Plasma and LCD is the LCDs last WAY WAY longer. Plasma has more of a brighter picture but LCDs are guranteed for like 4x as many hours as a PLASMA. also with plasmas you can't lay them on their sides so if u were planning on taking it home that way then u might wanna think again.
this may not be saying much but the 2 BEST tv brands we carry at walmart are SONY and....Vizio. i know what ur prolly thinking, "Vizio, who the fuck are they?"
well when we first got them in i thought the same but after doing research on them they are pretty sweet. if i recall right they are a fairly new company that started by some guys working for other companies left their company to make affordable nice tvs for ppl.

I noticed they were the most affordable for the quality they were offering when I looked at Tvs at Wal-Mart
We ended up going with a normal 32' inch tv but if I had picked LCDs I seriously would have considered one of theirs for that price
