HUGE Rock Band 2 news. Whole Setlist confirmed at E3

HARMONIX AND MTV GAMES UNVEIL SETLIST FOR
ROCK BAND™2 - THE ULTIMATE MUSIC GAME

Game to Feature Unrivaled Blend of Classic, Developing and New Artists

Rock Band Platform to Encompass More Than 500 Songs by End of 2008

Los Angeles, Calif. – July 14, 2008 – Harmonix, the world’s premier music video game company, and MTV Games, a division of Viacom’s MTV Networks (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), along with marketing and distribution partner Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS), today revealed at the 2008 E3 Media & Business Summit the song set list for Rock Band™ 2, the next evolution of the groundbreaking Rock Band music platform.

The Rock Band 2 soundtrack will feature over 100 songs with over 80 songs on disc plus an additional 20 bonus tracks which will be made available for free download this fall. This builds upon the unparalleled depth and diversity of Rock Band’s original set list and its ever-expanding library of downloadable tracks.

Comprised entirely of master recordings from some of rock’s most prolific and untouchable artists, including AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, Bob Dylan, Metallica, Pearl Jam and more, Rock Band 2 will deliver the most impressive and largest music catalogue of any music-based videogame ever.

• After 14 years since Guns N’ Roses last official music release, Axl Rose selects Rock Band 2 to debut official new track “Shackler's Revenge” from the highly-anticipated album Chinese Democracy.

• Rock Band 2 is the first and only video game to feature the music of AC/DC. It includes their epic rock anthem, "Let There Be Rock.”

• For the first time ever, music from American music icon, Bob Dylan, is featured in a video game with “Tangled Up In Blue.”

• Rock Band 2 will feature backwards compatibility with all Rock Band downloadable music content released to date.

• Owners of the original Rock Band will have the ability to export most of the Rock Band disc tracks and upgrade them into Rock Band 2 gameplay--the first time ever in videogame history!

“With Rock Band, Harmonix and MTV Games set out to create a powerful music platform for music fans, their friends and families to discover music in a way unlike ever before,” said Paul DeGooyer, SVP Electronic Games and Music, MTV. “We are honored that such legendary artists as AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, Bob Dylan and more have chosen Rock Band 2 as a new platform for fans to experience their music. Re: HUGE Rock Band 2 news. Whole Setlist confirmed at E3

Also. Supposedly it has been in a few blogs that HMX wanted to put over 100 songs on disc, but couldnt fit them on. So they are going to release 20 free DLC songs after launch. I will confirm this and list songs as soon as I can.

Personally, im fucking stoked, DLC backwards compatibility, the ability to pull songs off the RB1 disc and play them on RB2, online BWT, CHallenge mode, Quickplay set-lists, no fail mode for parties.

THis game is going to be the sickest.

I shall now post a summary of this first E3 disaster.....

----------------------------------------------------

How Can Microsoft Appeal To Both Casual Gamers And Hardcore Gamers: Well you could have told the casuals to fuck off and buy a Wii while not making things too casual for the older more serious gamers that give you the software numbers you can brag about later.

Fallout 3: GREAT! But sad that the highlight of the press conference was the very first demonstration.

Resident Evil 5: Was good minus constantly picking up stuff and smashing crates while wasting time. Still instead of making us watch some fat woman dancing later for an extended period of time they could have just gave them a little more time. Then again I couldn't wait for that translator to get off the stage. Managed to find a way to be a grown man with a more annoying voice than pre-ball dropping Xbox Live gamers.

Fable 2: Worst demonstration ever. From a bird shitting on a kids head to oh look my "wife" likes when I burp and my "friends" can come burp with me. THE EVOLUTION OF CO-OP GAMING! And very bad slowdown during one part? That was the best footage they could show? REALLY?

Gears of War 2: More action packed, great graphics, impressive number of enemies without slowdown but in the end same old gameplay I wasn't crazy about the first time around so not going to get me hyped.

*Insert typical my penis is bigger than your penis charts here*

*Insert news you might care about in 10 decades outside of the US about movies and stuff here*

System Update: I can turn on my Wii now and not wait for this update but I don't because the Wii is shit and now Microsoft are feeling the need to Wii everything up. Drop that arcade price because here come the casual flock. Anything they are not copying from Nintendo they are copying from HOME. Actually they did keep one thing Micro$oft. The obvious cash trap they are hoping avatars will be.

At least since Microsoft are pathetic at keeping things under wraps I was prepared an epic fail like this might be coming and wasn't looking forward to any system update news.

Primetime: Prizes you say? Well maybe it isn't all bad! Oh wait it is Microsoft so I am sure they forgot to slap on an only in the US sticker to the prizes announcement.

Uno Rush: There is only so much that can be done with UNO and is uneeded IMO.

Geo Wars 2: OMG Shocking announcement!!! I only read the achievement list a couple of weeks ago or so but I never would have known it was coming. Would have been nice if it was coming this week but looks like a Crossword game is their idea of a great E3 week game. Next to Major League Eating for WiiWare I guess it is though. Bring on PixelJunk Eden and more trophies SONY!!!! You are my last hope for a great downloadable game during E3. Well I guess there is Steam potential as well.

Galaga Legions: You know the other day I was sitting back thinking about what Namco game I would like to see updated next like Pac-Man and funny enough Galaga just popped right into my head. After about 2 hours of thinking of other games I would want this to happen with more.

Portal Still Alive: Again it was pretty much known this was coming but more Portal isn't bad.

South Park: Amazing!!! Simply amazing!!! Best 1 second clip EVER!!! Just seeing the South Park characters is enough to get people hyped because we all know previous South Park games have been GOTY quality!

XNA: Most games will suck but I look forward to some of the good ones that emerge. But still just the same things to say about it that they said when it was announced so why devote time to it while rushing developers off the stage?

*Insert more news only good to the Yanks about movies here*

*Insert more numbers bullshit here* 1000 titles by the end of 2008 when in more than two years the 360 doesn't even have 500 titles. Yeah that is going to happen

Banjo Trailer: I hate Banjo and yet this was better than most of the press conference *Sigh*

VP2: The first was pretty good so hopefully this fixes problem areas like the pathetic garden size which trailers and screens have not totally been making clear. But it looks small again

*Sneezes*

Scen..... Wait what is that? Banjo was announced for XBLA? When? Just now you say? Guess I missed it during my short sneeze.

Scene It: Scene It is great.... trailer was stupid.

You're In Hell: Fat people dancing, awful looking gameplay, stupid generated movie.... EPIC!

Guitar Hero: Sad, painful, sad..... I hope the poor guy didn't hang himself. METALLICA!!! YEAH!!! DOUBLE FIST PUMP!!!!! *Crickets* It is the new RIIIIIDDDDGGGGGEEEEE RAAACEEERRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

Lips: Looks good and Yano has made some great music related games. Duffy singing totally out of synch with the audio and footage from the game in the background was kind of painful on the ears though.

*Insert mandatory awkward E3 celeb trying to hype game moment here after she was done singing.*

Rock Band 2: You hear that Deer In The E3 Headlights? Crowd responses to artists being announced. I bet he hung himself at this point if not prior.

*Insert Japanese guy trying to speak English while constantly missing where he is supposed to be looking at the screens displaying what he is told to say here*

IU, SO and LR: Are not Persona 4.

*Insert more bullshit here but wait it is cut off and people laugh.*

FFXIII: Is also not Persona 4. And hey how about we force cameras to zoom way out for a two year old trailer.

----------------------------------------------------

Did I forget anything? The sad thing is this was better than last years, "we are only showing games that will be out this year conference". Of course half those games didn't even make it out last year so why would they keep making date announcements again this year?
