At Blizzard's Worldwide Invitationtal in Paris today, Blizzard has officially announced that Diablo 3 is currently under development. This comes 8 years after the release of Diablo 2 and is greeted by a high amount of anticipation from rabid Diablo fans. Diablo 3 will feature the same isometric view as Diablo 2 and has the same Mana and Life bubbles as before. Diablo 3 will also have interactive environments that are an important feature of the game. The game is also still an action RPG with the traditional 3/4 overhead perspective. Fans can also expect the same bookshelves that produce scrolls and books as the previous titles. There will also be a Witch Doctor class, as was mentioned by a NeoGAF forum poster before the event even took place. The Witch Doctor has the ability to summon pets, cast diseases and control the minds of its enemies. There will now also be female versions of every class. Blizzard has put emphasis on the fact that Diablo 3 is a co-operative game. Players can also expect to see massive enemies much larger than the character. Multiplayer will also be done via battle.net.
I saw the trailer of Diablo 3. It looks kinda slow at the beginning, but it looks like overall the game's gonna be worth owning.
If Blizzard's Diablo 3 FAQ page is still acting wonky, or if you're too impatient to read through everything here are the highlights:
Return to Sanctuary, the same world as the previous 2 games. The game takes place 20 years after Diablo 2.
There are 5 character classes in the game. We know two so far: a new Witch Doctor class, and a completely redone Barbarian class. Male and female options for all classes.
Havok-powered physics
Building on previous random environments, Blizzard promises "a host of new ways to create random scripted events throughout the game."
Upgraded Battle.net
Deckard Cain returns, but is noted as the "first victim" of the new horrors
Plan is to release the game "simultaneously in as many regions as possible, and to localize the game in several languages." The game will ship for Mac and Windows simultaneously.
I was afraid to post the direct link to the videos because I thought that I would get in trouble. What I've would've done is get the videos from Youtube and post it on here. Anyways, Thanks to A-Balla, people here can get a glimpse of the coming of Diablo III. Lend out your words.
