Top 10 Wacky moments in MGS history

Quote:
Solid Snake gets into "Self Pleasure" (Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty)

When one gets on a tanker loaded with gun-toting terrorists, the last thing you should think about is yourself. However, in Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, Snake not only gets the opportunity to kiss a poster of a female swimsuit model, but also simulate self-pleasure, if the joystick motions are done correctly. Jeez, Snake, get a room.

Mei Ling's ridiculous commentary (Metal Gear Solid)

In the original Metal Gear Solid, you're able to keep in contact with several parties over the course of your mission. This includes Mei Ling, who's supposed to be helpful but instead ends up being annoying. For instance, when you enter a ladies' bathroom, she calls you a "pervert" and a "weirdo." We're not weird, just curious.

"I Fell Asleep!" (Metal Gear)

Don't you hate it when you're supposed to be on guard duty and inadvertently get knocked out? That's what happens to this poor chap in the original Metal Gear for NES. However, when he wakes up, he not only realizes his scenario, but speaks it out loud by yelling "I fell asleep!!" It's almost enough to make you want to shoot him.

What's up with The Fear? (Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater)

There are plenty of strange enemies in Snake Eater, including The End, The Fury and Sorrow. Still, the weirdest of the bunch has to be The Fear, a double-jointed lunatic with an impeccably long tongue and the ability to use both limb dislocation and stealth to his credit. Really, we're still trying to figure this guy out.

Fatman's parting words (Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty)

A bomb maker who's part of the Dead Cell team, Fatman encounters Solid Snake midway through the game. This character is pretty interesting, but he leaves some choice parting words upon his defeat, "Laugh, and grow fat!" Man, hasn't this guy ever heard of Wii Fit? We prefer to laugh and keep trim instead.

The pure insanity that is Psycho Mantis (Metal Gear Solid)

For those of you who played the original Metal Gear Solid, you'll no doubt remember the insane Psycho Mantis. This guy is nuts. How nuts? He reads your memory card to compliment your in-game progress and Castlevania game save and then attacks you by zipping around the room. The only way to defeat him is to plug your controller into the second port.

Raven's untimely demise, or is it? (Metal Gear Solid)

Midway through Metal Gear Solid, Snake encounters the M61 cannon-carrying Vulcan Raven inside a cold warehouse. However, he takes defeat in a bizarre manner. After offering Snake a decree that he'll never escape bloodshed, he's supposedly devoured by a flock of ravens – or maybe he turns into them. We just don't know.

Raiden gets in the buff (Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance)

So here's an interesting cheat for you. By completing 100% of the VR Missions as Ninja Raiden, you gain access to a different version of Raiden – one without clothes. Yes, there's nothing like boarding a tanker with a bunch of armed men while covering your privates and running around buck-naked. Our only question is why Meryl wasn't available.

Capturing apes in Metal Gear (and vice versa) (Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater)

Some interesting twists came about between the releases of Sony's Ape Escape 3 and Konami's Snake Eater. In the super-serious Snake sequel, you can chase after apes in the jungle in certain areas. Likewise, in Ape Escape, you can play Metal Gear-inspired mini-games. Solid Ape Snake wins the day again.

Metal Gear getting some Creed? (Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots)

First introduced as an April Fool's joke, it's now confirmed that hidden somewhere in MGS 4 will be Altair's assassin outfit for Snake to wear, putting an interesting medieval twist on the game. Hey, as long as we can stab someone in the neck, we'll be fine
