June 16, 2006 - PlayStation head-honcho Ken Kutaragi has been making a concerted effort lately to let people know the PlayStation 3 is intended to be a computer and not just a game system. Adding further leverage to this argument are comments Kutaragi made recently in an interview with Japanese newspaper Nikkei BP.
According to To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. , Kutaragi hinted at the PlayStation 3 being offered on a built-to-order basis, as many PCs are.

Kutaragi says, "A PS3 just for you!
"As the PlayStation 3 is a computer, we might even offer it on a built-to-order basis, customized to the needs of each and every user," Kutaragi is quoted as saying. "The hardware components have been designed in a modularized format with this possibility in mind."
When the PS3 launches this November, it will be available with a 20GB hard drive for $499 or a 60GB hard drive for $599. As an example of built-to-order possibilities, Kutaragi indicated that larger 120GB hard drives could be available as early as next year.
