| Will Wii be a flop? Nintendo finally dropped the bomb on most of the remaining details on their upcoming console launch – Wii. Nintendo fans everywhere cheered over the low price point of $249.99, Wii Sports packed in, an easy to use interface, low priced virtual console games, and the fact that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will finally see the light of day at launch on November 19. While all this sounds great on paper, I’m still extremely skeptical. Even though I can’t wait to get my hands on my own Wii and take Link through his latest adventure, Nintendo has a poor track record that still makes me nervous. Lets face it, Nintendo came out of E3 looking like a complete winner. Many were unconvinced that the company’s decision to go with a freehand remote controller and nunchuk control scheme would be a fun way to play games, but even the biggest skeptics changed their stance when they got their hands on it. Developers praised the console for ease of development, and innovative controls. Gamers loved Mario, Metroid, and Zelda. Even the Game Critics Awards gave Wii Best Of Show. How could Nintendo blow this? A Link To The Past Let’s look to the past with the Nintendo 64 and GameCube. Even though the Nintendo 64 had such sales juggernauts and critical successes as Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the N64 still got its butt handed to it by Sony’s PlayStation. The launch of the N64 was a complete sell out, even though the system launched with only two games, Super Mario 64 and Pilotwings 64. Due to the high cost of the cartridge format, launch games retailed at a whopping $79.99. Source: Game Informer Online It, well at least IMO will be a flop, Nintendo Has lost all touch of what gammers what, The only thing that is saving them will be the new Zelda game and the Mario franchise. If your a company trying to make it big you do not want 2 games that are holding you up. GOOD LUCK NINTENDO. | |||||||||||||||

| I think the main issue with the past few systems out for Nintendo was a lack of first party titles and having one or two big games a year. This is something that Nintendo has made a commitment to rememdy. I honestly see it being huge overseas in Japan, and it will take off in the states and everywhere else after it makes it's killing in Japan. It will be bigger than 64 or gamecube, but not as big as other next -gen systems | |||||||||||||||

| Nintendo have not lost the idea of what people want, they have changed it. I mean, to be honest, Nintendo have realised that after almost 20 years of sitting in a chair or on your bed with a remote has gotten stale, so, it is the healthier, funner and in a way more difficult, but easy to get into way of gaming, there not looking for the old market, there looking for everyone, and sure it is a risk, but you gotta know, it will be an impressive dare if it comes off as good as seems. | ||||||||||||||
