EA locks up Madden for longer

I don't know. I didn't like 06 or 07 all too much, but I love Madden NFL 08. It's smooth, great gameplay.. and with LIVE my rosters are updated right up to the Super Bowl.

I boycotted '08 after the absolute shit they tried to pass off as "Madden 06 and Madden 07"

And they were prime examples why nothing good can come of EA having exclusive licensing.

Just look at the hockey market -- the 2K series has been pushing EA to do more and more, and this year's NHL 08 wound up being probably the best sports simulation I've ever played.

That's fair, but at the same time.. I never liked any other football game other than Madden. I don't see how the 2K series pushed them.. they were always far behind in gameplay, franchise, and everything else.

Not really, the gameplay was FAR more realistic than anything the team at Madden has ever come up with. Also, when 2k had the ESPN license they actually USED the goddamn thing. EA doesn't do shit with it really.

You took an economics class right? Shouldn't it be quite simple? 2k provided an alternative, there were people who much preferred 2k over Madden, Look at the leap and bounds Madden took from 2003-2005 when 2k was ALSO pushing the envelope, then Madden 06 came along, no 2k to compete with, that game was the sorriest excuse for a sports game that I've seen.

My opinion would differ if I believed 2K's gameplay was ever good but I didn't think it was. All the players ran at a similar speed and there was nothing to differentiate between the great players and the rest. Owens was as good in the game as a 4th or 5th wideout would be and so on.. Plus, there weren't nealry enough broken plays. People were always caught from behind unless it was a HB dive up the middle in which they run straight up the field and untouched. .

Well speaking as someone who plays 2k5 with Owens on his 49ers franchise team, Theres a big diffrence between Terrell Owens and Brandon Lloyd in that game and Broken plays happen almost every game on the defesive and offensive side of the ball. The speed thing your talking about is bull shit to, Kevin Barlow is without a doubt the slowest RB I've ever played with, when I put in Tatum Bell hes 10 times faster and when he breaks in to the secondary nobody catches him.

I love Madden 08 (PC) and 05, NCAA 08 for the PS2 but 2k5 on the Xbox is far better gameplay wise than those games. But there all better than shit storm that is Madden on next gen with there crappy animations, unrealistic turnovers and DB player.

Your personal feelings aside, there was (and still is) a HUGE community of football gamers who will argue that the last 2K5 game was the best football simulation ever made. Look at the OperationSports message boards -- that game still has its own active forum.

I remember back then, even devoted Madden players who just couldn't make the transition no matter how hard they tried (myself included) would admit that the 2K looked better and played a far more realistic game of football.

To answer ToL first, I still maintain that there was not a significant enough of a difference between the best players in the league and the average ones. When I have Michael Vick being caught from behind by a linebacker or Ray Buccannan covering Randy Moss in single coverage, it's a problem.

I don't deny how popular the 2K games became but lets also not forget that they were $20 a piece for the last couple years. Me thinks that kind of price difference can cloud some people's judgment.
