I need some help with my laptop.

I'm running Windows Vista, which is obviously a big pile of crap.

The other day, I made the mistake of trying to highlight about 6 icons, so i could delte them. It slowed my laptop down considerably, which is a usual occurance, but then my screen went blue, and the song I was playing got stuck on the one note it was on. Nothing would work to go back, or to shut it down, so I had to pull out the battery.

Now, my computer is running exceptionally slow, a lot of programs won't start, and others are failing. In particular, something called Windows Search Indexer keeps failing, usually right on start up, and something called superfetch fails frequently, and when it does so, I lose my connection to the network.

I've tried runnind dick check, but it gets to stage 4 of 5, and won't start it. It just sits there for ages.

I'm really stuck, as esentially all I have now is a laptop that'll run internet explorer, but nothing else.

If you can, please help!

My laptop just shit the bed to with vista. First it wouldn't connect to the internet, then it took 5 minutes to shut down. Now it wont even fucking start.

Did you run a virus scan?

Why did you get Vista?

Everyone I know hates it and would not pay a dime for it until after SP 1.

(No offense to people here that like it, I just think it's full of programming bugs)

It was just what came with the laptop I've purchased. Is there any chance you can point me towards a good virus checker? I'm pretty clueless in that regard

I used to have it myself but it missed a major virus on my machine and it later crashed so I don't use it any more.

I'm solely a Kaspersky/Norton person now.

I usually use one or the other.

Windows Vista does suck indeed. I heard you need at least 1 gig of memory to run it properly. I got this on the laptop I'm on now and still want XP back.

If you want Nortons and up to 10 years of updates for FREE then let me know and will upload for ya.
