BBFC seeks to keep Manhunt 2 banned

The British Board of Film Classification is drawing a line in the sand when it comes to Manhunt 2. The BBFC is going to the next level and seeking judicial review after the Video Appeals Committee overturned the BBFC's decision to reject giving Manhunt 2 a classification -- essentially creating a de facto ban.

The BBFC believes that overturning their original decision, which was essentially not to make a rating decision on Manhunt 2, will have "fundamental implications with regard to all the Board's decisions." According to the BBFC statement, the Video Appeals Committee decision undermines its power to judge "unacceptable levels of violence." Manhunt 2 now waits in limbo again as the BBFC attempts to overturn the VAC's decision

Did you read the article you posted? That's why it's getting banned, haven't seen anything for the game to know how much water this statement holds, but the way games have been going I wouldn't doubt the fact that some of the violence is unnecessary, and over the top.

And that is something people should decide for themselves and not have some morons telling them what they can and can't play. To me there is no such thing as a game (Or movie, TV show etc.) that is too violent. The only violence that can be too violent is real life violence and who creates most of the violence in the world? The same government that wants to enforce stricter laws on games

Well, I guess I should rephrase the way I said it. I don't think any game should be banned persay. Slap an AO rating on it. Granted I don't really get the difference between M and AO...

M= 17 years and up
AO = 18 years and up

It originally had an AO rating but because a lot of stores like Wal-Mart won't sell AO games Rockstar toned it down and it got changed to an M rating in North America but they are trying to ban the toned down version in the UK. AO should be kept to sex and not violence so they never should have had to even tone it down IMO.

yeah buti mean its a video game, if people do whats in the games it's not the games fault its the childs/parents fault for being irresponsible about what their kids play, and if a child really does get that brainwashed by a game, thats just pathetic, and i sad excuse
