Hey All,

I'm looking for a true laptop... none of the 15 wide screen stuff that I currently have now. I'm looking for true portability, lightweight, easy to carry around and a good battery life.

What do you recommend?

I'm looking at a budget of $1,500 ... preferably around $900, if possible. I'm planning on doing a desktop upgrade as well, so the money leftover from this purchase will go towards that one.

I've had horrible experiences with their notebooks and refuse to buy anything they make except printers and external accesories.

I can testify the battery does last that long.

Plus if you have ever had a thinkpad you know the quality of the hardware is second to none.

Their notebooks freakin' last forever.

It depends on what you are using it for.

Knowing Terry is in the IT field somewhat I pretty much guess he'll be pretty demanding on the machine for performance and reliability.

Being in the same field I have found hp lacking in both those departments.

Needless to say for the average person just browsing the web and playing games, etc it may be just fine.

This is what I ended up buying. Dell had a $250 off coupon, and I was able to get an additional 4% off through our employee purchase program at work.
