Report: Boy Nearly Killed By Clever Attempt To Cool Down Xbox 360
We don't have a primary source on this, but Fun Tech Talk has a story from the local news in North Carolina about one 14-year-old boy's genius solution to his overheating Xbox 360:
Quote:
The boy's mother told local news that his Xbox 360 kept turning itself off after about 5 minutes. Her son had read online that he could stop it from cutting off by cooling the power supply. While his mother was away the boy had taken the power supply and wrapped it in plastic and tape. In an attempt to cool it off, he submerged it into a pan of water with the cord still plugged in.
Amazingly, he survived with only small burns to his right hand and foot, although he was taken to the perfectly normal-sounding Transylvania Community Hospital after he lost consciousness. If this kid was like five years old I'd be commending him for his brave commitment to scientific study (water is cold, cold things cool hot things), but.. fourteen?

I'm thinking the water seeped because it wasn't properly wrapped.
