Well, the rumours of a UK price cut for Xbox 360 on Bioshock launch day have proved true - Microsoft is cutting £20 off the Core and £30 off the Premium 360 pack, affective as of August 24.
The Premium will now retail at £249.99 and the Core will go for the a bargain £179.99 - that's as cheap as a Wii.
The new mass-market price point will no-doubt tempt even more mainstream gamers on to the 360 bandwagon - a market Microsoft has increasingly sorted after with titles like Viva Piñata, the Vision Camera and upcoming quiz game Scene It!
It also puts the 360 Premium pack at more than £150 cheaper than a PlayStation 3 (ouch!).
"We're pleased to be able to offer Xbox 360 at a new, lower estimated retail price," said Stephen McGill, head of Gaming and Entertainment, Xbox UK.
"We pioneered the successful concept of multiple products for multiple categories of consumer. First-timers will love the Xbox 360 Core system, which offers an affordable entry into high-definition gaming. The Xbox 360 Elite, with its large hard drive and wireless controller, will appeal to casual and experienced gamers and families."
In addition, Microsoft has revealed that the Xbox 360 Elite will carry an RRP of £299.99 - 30 quid less than originally expected.
Xbox 360 Elite is out this Friday and features a 120GB HDD and an HDMI port and of course comes in a black finish.
Elite accessories such as the 120GB hard drive will also be in the shops this Friday, the HDD priced at a whopping £129.99 (wait for Video Marketplace we reckon) and a black wireless controller for £32.99.
There will also be pink and blue 360 controllers released to entice your kids to console more as well as the nifty chat pad. These should all be in stores by the end of September.
In case you missed it, Microsoft's Aaron Greenburg defended the hefty price of the 120GB hard drive, saying, "we know it is expensive and we have definitely heard that feedback but it is a little apples and oranges to compare it to internal PC hard drives."

Woooooo I'm so glad I waited a while before purchasing a Box. A very shrewd move by Microsoft, in my opinion. I see Sony doing something similar in the lead up to Christmas. My advice to any UK gaming fan... wait a little before purchasing.
