i downloaded some avi files. and my explorer keeps closing down when i click or try to open the files. i installed SpyWare Killer i'm not sure who made the product. it found about ten files that had spy ware. i used turbo scan and and got rid of all of them but i still ran into the same problem. i'll try the norton antivirus once i'm logged out. sometimes when i open a folder with the files and don't click the file the exploer still closes. after i sent the report i got this back
This problem was caused by XviD.

Are you saying it wont play them? If so you need a XviD codec. I had to get one. Try open WMP and open the file from there.
But if you have the codec already id say the files themselves are courrupt. Where did you download them from?

i got rid of two programs i downloaded when i started having trouble and everything seems fine now. and thanks for trying to help out. i could view the videos when i right clicked the file>open with>and i had three programs i could view it with, now only one with two programs deleted.
