Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Shivering Isles Now Available For 360 If Microsoft didn't want to rape consumers wallets, they could have let Bethseda release these separately (the same way Microsoft did with the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack). This is causing problems with other studios, including Epic Games who want to release weapons/map packs etc. for free (which MS doesn't want since they get a cut of all microtransactions). For a positive thing, nice to see a already huge game get even more stuff. |

Rep Power: 6 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Shivering Isles Now Available For 360 The price is no different than the downloadable and retail versions of this for PC so how are Microsoft to blame? Not to mention Microsoft don't even publish the game so they had no say in if a retail version would be made or not. And the price is also no different than any large expansion like this that you would find on PC so the price is fine. And well if Microsoft don't want free content then why exactly have they released some free content for games they published including Gears of War (OMG the issues)? Why have they even done things like offering Texas Hold 'em free for 48 hours? Yeah everything won't be free but well it shouldn't be. It isn't free to make new content. But Microsoft also have no say over the prices of content if they are not the ones releasing it for a first party game. Oh and at least they are not ripping people off with quick pathetic ports of games. What Nintendo are doing would be like Microsoft charging for downloads of backward compatibility updates because the same process of making Xbox games compatible is all that Nintendo have to do with VC games. And actually much easier because the coding of some old NES game is not nearly as complex as that of a game on Xbox. Can't groan at me not so HA!!! ![]() | |

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Shivering Isles Now Available For 360 Actually, Microsoft DOES have say since they can choose not to allow any game they want (the same way Nintendo has to approve Wii games and Sony has to approve PS3 games). MS makes more money by forcing it to be a download rather than as a seperate release. MS does allow some free stuff, but there is a lot they deny. There are reports that Epic Games wants to release a lot of stuff for free (like they always do for their PC games) but MS doesn't want to do it (the 2 free maps are supposed to be a compromise they offered). The makes of Marble Blast Ultra said the same thing, they wanted to offer new levels and play modes but weren't allowed. XBLA, offering 1 game MAX per week (sometimes something crappy like Root Beer Tapper, or non-games like a Kameo Uno deck). VC offers an average of 3 games a week, and they have released classics like Super Mario World and Zelda: OOT on a regular basis. Also, Wii offers 100% BC (something Xbox 360 will never offer) without forcing you to download patches (which don't always work). |

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Shivering Isles Now Available For 360 They are expansions (like Tribunal and Bloodmoon were for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind). I guess they could eventually offer them in retail and call it "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition". |
