I thought I would start posting sales info for those interested. This is the info for Canada in February, as compiled by the Canadian branch of NPD (Wii pretty much dominated, so I am happy).
Software sales are up 32% from February 2005 from $24 million to $31.6 million. Hardware sales more than doubled from $13.3 million to $27.6 million.
Hardware numbers:
Wii- 28,556
PlayStation 2- 23,191
DS- 22,870
Xbox 360- 12,390
PSP- 9,311
Game Boy Advance- unknown (but confirmed to be between PSP and PS3)
PlayStation 3- 6,084
Wii was also #1 in terms of hardware revenue (i.e. ranked in terms of $ rather than units sold), followed by the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Top 10 games sold:
1. Wii Play with Wii Remote--Wii
2. Crackdown--Xbox 360
3. Diddy Kong Racing DS--Nintendo DS
4. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess--Wii
5. New Super Mario Bros.--DS
6. Lost Planet: Extreme Condition--Xbox 360
7. WarioWare: Smooth Moves--Wii
8. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess--GameCube
9. Gears of War--Xbox 360
10. Guitar Hero II bundle--PlayStation 2
Wii was also #1 in terms of hardware revenue (i.e. ranked in terms of $ rather than units sold), followed by the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Well duh. It doesn't cost much to package a GC in a new case To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Say Game A costs $30 and Game B costs $50. Game A sells 3 copies while Game B sells 2 copies. Game A thus has $90 revenue while Game B has $100 revenue.
So Wii was the top seller in both terms of units sold and total $.
Nice try spin it though. Wii is dominating EVERYWHERE. Also, ouch at the PS3. To show how bad the PS3 is doing, the COMBINED February sales for PS3 in Japan/United States/Canada was 219K.
Yeah I was thinking profits. Anyway, doesn't change the fact that Wii is garbage and sales won't last. If you really think Wii will be selling in a couple of years you are in serious denial. :gdevil: I especially can't wait for when HD becomes the standard during this console gen and people buying some nice new HD sets realize Wii doesn't have HD support and will look awful on those nice new sets. Not that it doesn't look awful on SDTV's either but that wasn't my point.
As for PS3 like I have said it will pick up when the games like MGS4 start coming out. But in Canada it is still selling out. EB here have been getting new shipments every friday and last weekend I got the last one. If you do Best Buy and Future Shop stock checks you might find one or two stores show up with them in stock and that is with stores like that raising the PS3 price in Canada and it isn't like it was cheap to begin with. PS3 is just far more limited than Wii is.

"Anyway, doesn't change the fact that Wii is garbage"
Spinny, comments like that are something trollish fanboys are saying. There are ZERO signs of Wii sales slowing down, almost 4 months after launch the Wii is still selling out in every region of the world. Xbox 360 is struggling in Europe and basically dead in Japan, PS3 is struggling everywhere. Japan has already recieved a huge PS3 game (Gundam Musou, a combination of two big Japan series: Gundam and Dynasty Warriors) barely did anything for it. By the time games like MGS4 come out, PS3 will be too far in third place for it to make any difference.
There'll be no sorrow there, no more burdens to bear,
No more sickness, no more pain, no more parting over there;
And forever I will be with the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
The difference between us is that I am willing to admit when a PS3/Xbox 360 game is good. Spinoff seems to be anti-Nintendo and has been in total denial mode since the Wii started dominating. If sales continue the way they are, Wii will overtake Xbox 360 worldwide by the end of the year.
Not being HD doesn't matter, great games are still great games. Super Paper Mario, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Those 2007 titles alone make the Wii worth owning (not to mention third party games and the Virtual Console).
All you do is praise Nintendo and act like they can do no wrong and constantly spin anything negative about a Nintendo product into something else. You might not make a lot of negative posts (Which you have done) about the other consoles but I don't see you constantly groaning at comments that are negative toward PS3 or 360 either.
Me not liking Wii doesn't make me a fanboy since a fanboy is only in love with one company. Now why don't I like Wii? It isn't the sales which were not better than 360 the first couple of months when I still hated it or the company since as a company I don't hate Nintendo. It is the console being awful that made me hate it.
-The hardware is pathetic and majorly overpriced for what it is (A GC in a new case basically).
-Buying a new console and having new games still using the old consoles controller is pathetic.
-The third party support is no better than it was on GC which is not a good thing.
-What third party support it does have is mostly made up of developers wanting to get a little more cash out of last gen games that they do a quick port to Wii with.
-The appeal of the Wii remote doesn't last long just like most gimmicks. After the initial appeal wears off it is just annother controller.
-The Wii remote can make great games like Metal Slug awful.
-Virtual Console would have been good if XBLA and the PS Store were not offering a superior service with classic games by adding stuff like online play. And yet a classic on the Virtual Console with no online play or anything added costs more than most of the XBLA classics. Hell N64 games cost more than most of the games on XBLA designed for it and it costs a lot more to make a new XBLA game than it does for a quick VC port. Amazing!
-The online is a joke and always will be. It is what happens when a company uses a handheld for their online learning experience.
-I don't really care about 1,000,000 pointless Wii channels like polls about my favorite color.
-There is more but honestly I don't feel like sitting here for hours typing every little thing I hate about it.
PS3 (Made by a company I really do hate) and 360 on the other hand are both fine with me and I am also a PC gamer. Then when it comes to Nintendo the DS is still fine with me while I hate PSP. So once again it isn't me hating Nintendo as a company and it isn't me being a fanboy because fanboys only like one console and do everything they can to defend it and try to make it look better than it is. Is 360 my favorite? Yes but I am also very impressed with the PS3 so far and I am not a huge fan of PS1, PS2 or PSP so for me to be impressed with a Sony console isn't because I am a huge Sony fan. Nintendo are good with handhelds but they are a joke when it comes to consoles.
As for never posting anything postitive. Well I have had nothing positive to post. The only two decent games are Wario Ware and Super Swing Golf. But both are far from what they could and should be. Smooth Moves is by far the worst Wario Ware game because they killed half the replay value and Super Swing Golf is based on a free PC game that has a large focus on online play so taking away online play while having it be a full retail priced game is obviously not a good thing.
But fine I will try to think of something positive..... ummmmmm......hmmmmmmmm...... it looks nice? Yeah I guess that is something positive. Even if I don't even have it hooked up anymore it is still sitting on the stand looking all nice. Yep thinking postive To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. Wii sports is awesome to play when you have four people playing.
Excite Truck is also fun to play as well.
I don't really think that is is overpriced.
Of course I would never own a Xbox 360 or a PS3 simply because I am not a hardcore gamer and you HAVE to be a hardcore gamer to get into most games for those systems. Of course there are some exceptions like Fight Night 3 for the 360. I enjoy that game. I don't have the patience to sit and play a game for 3 hours and learn all the moves and that sort of thing though. Of course the Wii has games that you have to put a lot of time into as well, but with the Wii sports and Excite Truck, you can just play for like 15 minutes at a time and still have fun.
The Nintendo Wii seems like it is targeted for people like me.
Someone who just wants to play something fun from time to time and doesn't have the time to put 1,000 hours into a game.
