From the reviews I have read, it's basically a longer version of the first game (not literally, just that it's the same basic gameply and same visual style). So if liked the first game, you will like this one too.
PS3 and 360 spending will keep me away from this for this month but I will pick it up eventually. Out of this style of game only Ninja Gaiden is better IMO.

Well I changed my mind and got it now. Liking it even more than the first one so far. Initially made the mistake of trying it out on the PS3 though which I will never do again. I heard PS3 makes PS2 games look worse and even saw comparison pictures but I still wasn't prepared for it to make them look that awful.

What is your TV? I have it on a 50" LCD HDTV (So obviously with the HD cables as well but PS2 isn't an HD console so they really don't matter with PS2) and it makes PS2 games a nightmare to begin with which is why I use the original PS2 on the SDTV but it is a well known problem that PS3 downgrades PS2 games so it makes them even worse playing it on the 50" LCD with a PS3.

The People who made God Of War 2, made the disk so it can handle I think 720i, or the next one down. I have an LCD 30 inch Sony, It probably depends on what kinda tv you have, and the settings you have it on.

God of War 2 doesn't support any HD formats. The only PS2 game that has an HD format is Gran Turismo 4 but even then it is using a fake 1080i and not the real deal so technically even that isn't HD. Some support progressive scan modes but the difference is minimal with PS2. The only last gen console that had some games support real HD formats was Xbox but even then very few games supported it.
TV settings will also have nothing to do with jaggies and stuff and will just have an impact on colors, black levels etc. Chances are you are just not noticing it as much because the larger the TV the more the flaws are made obvious. Even with something running in HD there are a lot of people who prefer to stick around 50" than 60" because it can start to expose flaws. But still if you were to play it on a PS2 it would look a little better than the PS3 would like that comparison shot shows. There are other comparisons but I just posted that one to show what I mean about PS3 making PS2 games look worse. Not nearly as bad as what it is supposed to do to PS1 games though but I don't care enough about any PS1 game to want to play it again to test that out myself.
