Some 360 Questions.

So next week, i should be getting my 360 and i just have a few little questions for those who have one.


1. Do i need a wireless adaptor thing so i can use my 360 without having to disconnect my ethernet cable?

2. Am i able to play online using my free month pass?

3. Will any wireless router work as mine is from AOL?

4. Is TOL rubbish at GOW Online?

5. If i get the top package with the 20gb hard drive, is there anything extra i need?

1. Do i need a wireless adaptor thing so i can use my 360 without having to disconnect my ethernet cable? - The Wireless adaptar is required to play it wireless... otherwise you need the cable

2. Am i able to play online using my free month pass? - If it gives you the month of the GOLD pass then you can play games on-line. If it is the Silver then you can download and such, but not play 360 games online.

3. Will any wireless router work as mine is from AOL?- Most do... here is a list of them. Xbox.com | Connect to Xbox Live - Compatible Home Networking Equipment

4. Is TOL rubbish at GOW Online? - Kill't 95% of the time... it's fun target practice


5. If i get the top package with the 20gb hard drive, is there anything extra i need? - SHouldn't be... I highly reccomend this because you get HD cables and the hardrive out of the box. YOu cannot get on LIVE without a hardrive I beleieve.

Had a look and can't see my router so does that mean it definatly won't work or that it might work?

If no, do i just take the ethernet wire out and stick it in the 360 as its only like a foot away.

If you get the 20 GB version, make sure to buy the Play & Charge Kit for the wireless controller. Otherwise, you will have to buy and use AA batteries. The Pay & Charge Kit costs about $20 here in the US (Amazon UK has it at £12.98), which is much better than having to buy batteries all the time (or rechargeable batteries) since you can also charge it while playing.

What's the router model?

Even if the router is not on the list, simply put the 360 in DMZ mode and more than likely it'll work without problem. Usually the problem with the routers is with the firewalls, and IP Connection limit.

yeah, Mine wasn't on the list, but I called in to tech support and they told me what I needed to open. Also if you don't do they plug and play, I have an army of rechargable batteries I use for a bunch of things.. so that would work too

Its called a SpeedTouch and its from AOL.

I'm not too bothered about playing wireless as like i said, my TV is like a foot from my PC.

If you don't need wireless, don't do it. It will save you $100 (of whatever the price of the wireless adapter is in the UK), and it will be better/faster for online gaming.

So i've been looking at deals on 360's and believe i have found the best so far.


360 Full Console + Any 2 games of my choice for £319

Which means i can get Gears of War and Lost Planet special editions and save like £60

Or should i get a different game instead of Lost Planet??

Based on reviews I have read (maybe someone who played it can help more), I would say pick up a different game. It has a waek story and lackluster gameplay. If it's out in Europe by the time you get an Xbox 360, I would suggest Crackdown.
